Type 2 and menopause

I have recently started menopause and noticed that my morning blood numbers are higher than what they should be. I exercise every day, eat a healthy lowish carb diet, I am constantly having night sweats so I am wondering if the increase in my numbers has something to do with menopause. Has anyone else had this problem

I have not had night sweats myself, but anything that disrupts your sleep can cause a rise in fasting blood sugar levels.

I think we should distinguish menopausal symptoms from high blood sugar, and the timing of your symptoms may give you a clue. Menopause has an effect on estrogen (lowers it I think) and night sweats until you stabilize, are common.

Hi. I was first diagnosed in 2014 and have only ever been diet controlled which I managed quite well. Then 3 weeks ago I noticed some overnight changes in my vision and on the Drs advice visited the optician only to be told I was barely legal for driving. I have since had bloods done been given an HBA1C of 84! Am awaiting a call with the nurse re medication but I’ve been racking my brains to see what I have done differently since my last bloods in November. The only difference is the menopause which has really kicked in over the last 6 months. My diet and exercise hasn’t changed at all and I’m really at a loss like you. So I think there must be a connection. I wondered whether to ask for HRT instead of diabetes medication to see if that helps.

Hi I’ve recently started eating a savoury breakfast. Was eating porridge with honey and chia before and was getting a reading of 12 and this was 2 hours after breakfast! Been eating a savoury breakfast for a week and they’re down to 7.6 so it obviously works. Check out the glucose goddess on Instagram that’s where I got the tip and it’s worked for me.
