Dexcom and Samsung Smart Watch

Hi all,

When using the Dexcom and mobile app - if you're using say a Samsung Smart Watch with your Samsung phone, do you still have to carry your phone with you, or can the phone stay home and the watch do all of the reading?

Annoyingly, I'm using the Tandem T-Slim pump as the CGM and planned to use my phone as well so my Diabetes team can get the Clarity updates. Annoyingly I have the new Samsung Flip which isn't compatible with the app so I'm having to use an old S10. It's really annoying having to carry 2 phones around as well as the pump!

My understanding is that the watch has to live off the phone (and samsung watches aren't compatible though phones are.) Dexcom tend to be late on their app updates so you have to wait for new phones to be updated.

Theoretically the G7 may have more flexibility with watches?

I last investigated this about 18 months ago and got a fitbit versa 2 just so that I could get my samsung S10E to send my bg to my watch. It lags a bit and relies on the phone having a connection to the cloud via the dexcom follow app.

I would suggest you try asking dexcom support and/or dexcom dedicated social media to check for the most current situation (according to a quick google you still need a phone as a go between, but would be very happy to be told that I am now wrong.)
