Good morning all,
Just arrived on the site and in all fairness, trying not to be over whelmed by everything going on here.
I'm Chris and live on the south coast. Currently disabled so finding exercise difficult. Also have had head injury so I am a little slow on the uptake at times.

Welcome @ChrisHD
No one demands instant learning. Go at your own pace. I'm still learning every day, and I've been here 2 years already

Start by telling us what type of diabetes you have, when you were diagnosed and what your sugar levels are. This will help us answer any questions you may have with answers relevant to you

Welcome to our little bit of diabetes web heaven.

No one wants to join us, but all are welcomed.

Many even seem to like the friendly supportive comradeship of those coping with the same conditions ...go figure ;)....:)

As for overwhelming. Me too, as it was for many of us.

It's a lot to take in, so wise advice to take it slowly.

A little something I read regarding exercise.

For those more able it's gym bunny time.
For many others it's a walk after dinner

But all the exercise does is make the muscles affected call out for energy...aka the glucose we struggle utilising as well as others non Diabetics manage with ease

Now I'm guessing, but at just a few years older then me, you're T2D also ?

And under that understanding,
any exercise that can be used to make muscles make that call for energy, is useful .

I'm currently using crutches, horrid RTA, for how long I don't know,...( I wonder if yours was of a similar nature ? )

but if immobility is something you too struggle with , might some yoga style resistance bands be of use .

Find them easily on eBay etc

I simply hold between my hands and stretch / pull as much as I can safely...I can feel the arm & shoulder muscles tensing/stretching

They say some of the best exercises for using up the glucose IS weightlifting, but I wonder if it sounds like me, that might be too difficult for you ?.

The band's aren't that close, but they do perform a similar task, that might be something you are more able to do ?

Anyway, welcome
Do remember no question is a bad question

I asked loads and got nothing but love & helpful support from members

Best of luck finding your way of dealing with this :)

Hello and welcome @ChrisHD

As people have said it is very common to find it overwhelming at first. Just take your time, read around and ask questions. People here are very willing to help and offer support.

Good luck and welcome :)
