Had this just now and feel decidedly shake and have a headache. It's been 4 hours since breakfast and this has frightened me a little. Am I being silly

If you're used to higher numbers, a 4.7 can definitely feel like a hypo, it's called a false hypo.

It's not too low but it depends on medication if it's close to too low.
On diet only, there is no risk for dangerous hypos, so in that case 4.7 is a perfect number.
On some medications, like gliclazide or insulin, it's possible to drop too low, and a 4.7 can be a reason to want to nudge it up a litlle to prevent a low.

And there's no such thing as a silly question on these forums but @Antje77 has just written the reply that I would have given. :)

It is below the limit for driving acording to the DVLA guidelines for someone on a glucose lowering treatment medication such as insulin or gliclazide. Otherwise it is fine. I am using Gliclazide myself, and I do not go to bed without eating something if my sugars are below 4.9 at bedtime to make sure i do not have a nightime hypo. I have been eating a bedtime snack on most nights now for some time, so overall the snack is not pushing my levels up too much.

Hi there. Do you take any medication for diaberts? If you do, what do you take?

Hi all thanks for reply. I take 500mg of metformin two twice a day and 80mg gyclazide twice a day. Changing this weekend to 1 glycazide and starting tulicity injections on Saturday. Apparently these will help with weight. New to this my hb whatever called was 140 at start sugars where often in 30s now down 10 and below for 2 weeks only diagnosed 20th June. Still a minefield

80mg gyclazide twice a day.
With the gliclazide you can go too low.
So 4.7 is still not too low, but it might be a number where you might want to consider eating a little something to nudge it up.
If you do, by all means test a couple of times afterwards to get a feeling of how much what you ate made you rise. If it makes you shoot right up, you'll know you can take a little less next time.
