Insulin glargine

Hi to all

I only recived insulin at teatime yesterday from waiting last Thursday my bs was 25 at teatime took 10 units glargine checked this morning now 18.6 not gone down very good at all so what's the point if its not working so how am I going to eat the rest of today still high
I am going to gym and swim in the afternoon but dont think it will go down ugh more really frustrating to say the least.

Your bg has dropped by 7 units. Does this mean that insulin doesn't work? In my opinion, this means an insufficient dose. Of course, 18 is still a very high bg, but it's much better than 25

high bg is difficult to lower. It is quite logical that your doctor did not want to kill you, immediately prescribing a very large dose

low - carb ;)
insulin glargine, in theory, should only compensate for the work of the liver, but not food

Do you normally tolerate physical activity when your bg is 25? I usually get worse from physical activity with such bg

They like to start insulin slowly by gradually increasing the dose until they find the right one for you. That way there is less chance of a bad hypo.

I'm T1 not T2 so my advice may not be accurate for a T2, but I do use lantus and my understanding is that is a long acting insulin which works slowly in the background to bring/keep your levels down. With a starting level of 25 you've got a long way to go to bring it back to normal levels so I wouldn't necessarily expect that to happen overnight.

I went to the exercise class bs 25 and I went swimming also when I came back my bs was 13.3 I am going every week now lol.
