Burning hands

The last few nights my hands have felt on fire. I am desperately tired but keep getting what I can only cause spasms which are keeping me awake I've ran cold water on them, tried holding an ice block and even stood with my hands in the freezer. I'm in tears because I am frustratingly tired but this is stopping sleep from happening. With my high bs readings I guess this is neuropathy and I'm waiting on a diabetic clinic appointment. I just wondered if anyone else has this issue and might be able to help with ideas of how to get some relief from this, even just enough to help me sleep. I don't have this during the day at all. It's also weird that it is making me feel that I need to pee every 20 mins or so. Anyone got suggestions???

Hi @Smiter55 .

Still no word on a diabetic clinic appointment?

High blood sugars will make you thirsty as you pee out the sugar (it goes into your urine if you are over 10mmol/L) so that could be a reason for the pee situation (though there are other possibilities for that eg age related prostate issues?)

Honestly, I don't know if it will help, but I'd be tempted to go back to the GP with your blood sugars, the current symptoms, and ask if there is anything he can do given you still don't have an appointment date. Ask how bad it has to be for you to go to A&E? Tell him how miserable you are now feeling and ask if there is any short term help he can give or any way he can get you the appointment that you need.

I also wouldn't make any assumptions about your current symptoms being neuropathy or even diabetic related. Go to your GP and ask for help.

Good luck and virtual hugs.

Definitely not prostate lol I'm female. Yea I'm peeing loads but this is different. I can't explain.

I have used the gp messaging system and notified them I'm still waiting on an appointment from the clinic. Also messaged them to let them know they prescribed the wrong strips. I asked for Countour next one and I got contour plus, not compatible. hoping that gets sorted out soon as I'm running out. Currently from ordering to collecting from chemist is taking up to a week.20220730_141854.jpg

My apologies, (I must learn to double check people's gender on their profile before I make gender dependent suggestions. :):bigtears::banghead:)

I hope you get some attention from your GP soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. If it is neuropathy (and I have no ideas whether it is) there are meds your GP can give you, but my honest opinion here is that your biggest issue is your out of range blood sugars and I am very sad that your GP feels unable to give you any help with this.

It's OK I have a non gender forum name so easy mistake to make. It gave me a little something to giggle at.

I was surprised the gp didn't increase my meds as a temporary measure till I saw the clinic people. In the past they have done.

I don't know if maybe I should phone the hospital direct I might just do that.

On a positive I had confirmation that a prescription for the correct strips is being done. I have to allow 2 days for it to get to the chemist, think they must literally use snail mail lol, but I know it isn't, all done electronically. Recent experience it will then take 2-3days to be dispensed .

Edit
I called them and apparently I am booked in as a new patient for beginning November. Person i spoke to is going to try bring that forward.

Yay, it's amazing what can be done with 9ne phone call. Just had a call from the clinic secretary and she has an appointment for me on thursday. Hopefully things will get sorted out then.
