Thanks Daibell, I do think taking it twice a day would be helpful. I don't know why I thought they all had to be taken in the morning. I will ask the diabetic nurse about it. I think they wanted me to titrate up very slowly. Diet-wise, I was controlling my diabetes reasonably successfully for 8 years using LCHF and a little fasting, but something has very suddenly changed and it feels like a different type of diabetes so I think my next step is to request those tests you mentioned. My HbA1C doubled over a very short time and the doctor was quite surprised. Two months ago everything was fineI think you will find it is normally taken twice a day to be effective? When I took Gliclazide (a similar drug) it was twice day but do check the leaflet and prescription. Can I ask what sort of diet you are having? Have you considered having the two tests for LADA (late onset T1) as this type is always possible
Thanks for the tip-off, this is useful information. I'm not having hypos yet - my lowest reading has been 12 mmol, but I guess as it comes down this could happen.My gp started me on 1 once a day to be taken with my biggest meal. Tricky because I have 3 main meals all small lol. After few weeks was increased to 1 twice a day before biggest meals so before breakfast and evening meal for me. Have had a couple of really low readings during the night and one hypo in evening and was testing several times a day. I'm lucky in that my gp has agreed to prescribe me libre 2 sensors to monitor things. Mostly because this medication can cause hypos. It's worth pleading your case, you won't get if you don't ask. Maybe see if you can get one of their free trial ones first, which is what I did and used the results of that to ask for prescription.
