I am new to this diabetes, and terrified about all the information that has been given me.

Really without cakes or afternoon tea is it worth going out!!

It seems everything must change, the secret observations of what I am eating, is doing my nerves in.

Did anyone else feel the way I feel and getting aggravated so easy, I am a lover not a fighter.

I'm not the right person to advise (T1 since childhood) but I just wanted to give you a quick welcome and to say that your feelings aren't uncommon and things will get better.

I'm sure some more experienced T2s will be along soon to give you practical advice and more moral support.

Well from one type 2 to another I can assure you that I was also terrified and totally devastated when I was diagnosed. I am a self diagnosed carboholic. Never met a carb I didn't like (maybe a time exaggeration).

You have found a great place to get information, advice and support.

A few years on I am in a good place (most of the time) but if you read my early posts you will see that I threw myself a real pity party. Thankful the amazing people here helped me and I can honestly say I am in a better place now tan before my diagnosis. It took me a long time but it has happened.

So take heart- it will get better. Along the way I have met some of the most amazing people I know through this forum.

I'm intrigued by this? Who is secretly observing you, and why is it secret?

And yes we all go through a whole range of emotions on diagnosis, and while we work things through in our own time.
I used to love milk chocolate, loads of it, now I can't stand the stuff and don't even notice it exists anymore. You might surprise yourself how you will be in your future.

Firstly, welcome to the forums you will find this a very friendly place full of knowledge and advice.

I think the majority of us felt very similar when first diagnosed, I know I did.

I am also intrigued by your "secret observations of what I am eating" ???

Yes I got a tad grumpy when my doctor told me, but believe that is common because it is a lot of info to handle in one go.

Read around the forums and you'll find lots of info and help here.
