Newly diagnosed type 2 on 23rd August 2022

Hi all,
I am aged 31 and it was a shock to be diagnosed with an A1C of 70mmol and a second of 65mmol a short time after. The second test was because I had no symptoms.
I have never posted hear but I have been reading lots on the forum.

After taking action straight away and losing around 3 stone my results have come back at 34mmol!

I got myself a Code Free SD meter straight away and got to work. So I had an idea that I was going to be well within the 'healthy range'.

I will add that the first few weeks, I was really strict with the low carbing but I tested a bit with adding some carbs and also beer at the weekend and all my tests for fasting, pre meal, and several tests after a meal (dependant on what I've had) shows that my body appears to be reacting as a non diabetic.

I just want to thank everyone on here for their advice (although not directly to me as I haven't posted). Its still very early days and I'm well aware that if I went back to my old ways then, ill be back in the same position again.
So ill continue to monitor but maybe just not so obsessively as I was with my meter (checking more than 10 times a day on certain days)

There is hope out there for all!

Hello and welcome @just trying

Congratulations great results!!!

Also good to hear that you understand that you can't return to the old diet. This is exactly the reason I feel so passionately about this forum. The ability to give people the information they need to take control of their health.

Very well done!!!

Keep up the good work, you are on the right path. Just don’t back to old life style. More or less I have been thru the same. I am controlling my BG w/o meds for last 13 years,
