My libre alarm didn't go off

So this means your dinner didn't need the insulin, looks perfect to me.
I regularly have meals that don't need insulin, it all depends on the amount of carbs in the meal and my current BG.

Do you use fixed doses per meal or do you adjust your dose depending on carbs and current BG?
I'm on fixed doses. But considering I was so "low" I had to make a decision. To bolus or not to bolus. In retrospect, considering my starting BSL and the subsequent measurements, I made the right decision I think but I really need to talk to my diabetic nurse about this. I count carbs for every meal, I'm sure that if I can discuss this with here we can come up with some kind of plan. I'd rather not skip a dose without medical advice but I didn't want a repeat of last night where I dropped into the twos. And based on my blood measurments I bet I would have dropped into the twos if I'd taken the bolus. The only reason I felt relatively comfortable skipping the dose is because the hospital, this morning, skipped my dose and monitored me after breakfast. I'd prefer that the DN tells me it's ok to skip a dose, but I think I made the right decision. I'm only 5.4 now but if I'd had that dose... who knows?

Edit: to clarify, I am on fixed doses of bolus for every meal and basal. I think this needs to change but because I'm so new I think they're keeping me on the fixed doses

So do you take care to eat the same amount of carbs for your meals?
If you take a fixed dose but choose a meal with ery little carbs this will make you hypo.
And if you take a fixed dose but have an extra carby meal it will make you go high.

As long as you're on fixed doses, the only way is to find how many carbs you need for that dose.

You did the right thing, well done!

This is exactly what happened! I got BSL back under control 4 times (5th I could not) and within an hour I was hypo again with the libre alarms waking up the neighborhood. Looking at my graph the hypos are essentially exaclty 1 hour apart. I'd been having orange juice followed up by bread with honey, but I wasn't taking my Creon. In future I'll take creon with the long-acting carbs. 5th time I could not get it under control
If I understand correctly, the “creon” helps you with digestion?

Possibly everything you threw at it digested & hit you later, by the time your got to hospital..? (I seem to remember you posting elsewhere your BGs eventually went stratospheric?)

I don't feel any different at all when I go low although reading my writing I can see it's different when I'm low
For me, the first symptom that suggests an oncoming low is when I start fumbling my words (or literally stumbling, if I'm walking). That's my cue to check in with Libre or with a finger prick.

It's good that you're starting to notice these little things, even if it's after the fact. :-) It will help you to become more aware of them in the future when you're in the situation.

For me, the lower field of vision starts flickering. Simple metal arithmetic goes to pot (if I’m dealing with measurements or quantities.) or I get the intense feeling of walking into a room & forgetting why. Food is at the forefront of my mind..

A real safety feature for me regards machinery? I loose any form of confidence. If the intention was to drive.? (& I have been caught out despite testing. ) My mind says, “I can’t do this.” A couple of times I’ve been late for work. (Even though I’ve always got up an hour earlier than I need to on a workday just in case. Some mornings I’ve woken an hour or so earlier still, low & with the feeling something is “up.” ) I get there safely when I get there.
I realy can’t be bothered to explain “hypo.” I give the excuse as “overslept..”

Yes, for over an hour the orange juice did nothing but, from memory, about 1.5-2 hours later (when in hospital) they skyrocketed. You remember correctly :) I didn't have creon with the OJ but that doesn't mean there was none in my system as I'd have had it with dinner. Maybe takes a while to kick in when it's been a few hours since I've had them? I'll have to keep more careful logs because the situation is confused because the paramedics gave me pure glucose gel, which brought levels up very quickly (10 mins). But all the orange juice in my system may still have been digesting as you say

Edit: All my enzymes are low: lipase, amylase and protease. Which is why I'm on creon, so you're probably right. I have an appointment with my liver specialist (yeah, he's a liver specialist but I guess it's all related) and have a note written down to ask about the creon and orange juice, and whether I should have creon with orange juice. On the other hand I've ordered tubes of the pure glucose so maybe it doesn't matter but I'd certainly like to know

Today's mood: ecstatic. I just saw my new dietician and she's wonderful! She's ok with my lowish-carb diet (I'm not deliberately eating low-carb I just don't really like carb foods except for chips). For our next appointment she's even organised for my diabetic nurse to be present at the same time so doses can be adjusted if necessary (dietican is not allowed to adjust my doses) and so we're all on the same page. Dual consultation! Can't ask for more than that. I'm feeling really good now... things seem to be moving in the right direction
