I'm on fixed doses. But considering I was so "low" I had to make a decision. To bolus or not to bolus. In retrospect, considering my starting BSL and the subsequent measurements, I made the right decision I think but I really need to talk to my diabetic nurse about this. I count carbs for every meal, I'm sure that if I can discuss this with here we can come up with some kind of plan. I'd rather not skip a dose without medical advice but I didn't want a repeat of last night where I dropped into the twos. And based on my blood measurments I bet I would have dropped into the twos if I'd taken the bolus. The only reason I felt relatively comfortable skipping the dose is because the hospital, this morning, skipped my dose and monitored me after breakfast. I'd prefer that the DN tells me it's ok to skip a dose, but I think I made the right decision. I'm only 5.4 now but if I'd had that dose... who knows? So this means your dinner didn't need the insulin, looks perfect to me.
I regularly have meals that don't need insulin, it all depends on the amount of carbs in the meal and my current BG.
Do you use fixed doses per meal or do you adjust your dose depending on carbs and current BG?
Edit: to clarify, I am on fixed doses of bolus for every meal and basal. I think this needs to change but because I'm so new I think they're keeping me on the fixed doses
