Hello everyone. I'm a 39 yo female who has just been diagnosed with T2. I went for a routine blood test because I'm susceptible to iron deficiency anemia. My nurse decided to do a full blood screening because I'm overweight. When the results came in, and had them print them out for me. I was happy vbecause my iron was at 70, which was an improvement. My blood glucose was also in the normal range, but my doctor diagnosed me with T2 because my HBa1c was 53. He said anything over 48 means T2.
Though it's been very tough coming to terms with it, I've decided to take it as a blessing in disguise. I'm now very selective with what I eat and I'm moving more. My partner is also changing his diet in solidarity with me. I figure this diagnosis has changed us for the better and we can live a long, healthy and happy life together.

Welcome to the Board, and well done for your progress so far.

What a lovely supportive partner. That can make such a difference. Here's to the new healthy you!

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. It's nice knowing I have a support system both in my real life (my partner) as well as virtually (you fabulous people).

Yep, I treat it as a blessing in disguise. I'm much healthier and slimmer for it.
And the support of family is vital.
Good attitude @inggie and welcome

It always helps when you have a partner that will walk along side you . My hubby is no longer the proper northern hunk I first met, he is now 5 stone lighter but is still good stuff ;)

@Lainie71 I understand that completely! My bf is from the Scottish Highlands and we've been together for 18 years. When I met him I always said he looked like the hunky kilted guy on the Scots Porridge Oats box . Over the years we slipped into each others' bad eating and exercising (or lack thereof) habits. Hopefully with this I can wake up next to a slightly older, but still devilishly handsome Scots Porridge Oats man
hahaha

Thank you so much @MrsA2 ! It's great hearing about other survivors who have taken the diagnosis in their stride and bettered their lives for it. It gives me a lot of hope that I'm going to do the same.
