Suddenly have painfil feet especially on balls of both feet so looking for advice on shoes ,which are well padded in the insole area

Hey, I have high arches and plantar fasciitis. I have to be very careful to have support in the arch area. My doctor gave me a prescription for an orthotic insert, but I doubt I’ll use it because I wear ______ shoes and have for years. They have helped me a lot. I can’t say enough good things about them. A word of caution though…..the support in the arch is very noticeable. At first, it seems too odd to wear it. It takes a couple of days to adjust. They have many styles of shoes, boots and sandals. I have no affiliation with that brand of shoe. I’ll insert the name if the shoe, but first need to check the rules to confirm it’s allowed. I’m new and not so familiar with them yet. Lol………ok, I read the rules again and although I’m not advertising, I don’t want to take the chance of posting the name yet. I’ll double check and then post it.

You can share brand names if you have good experiences with them, as long as you're not affiliated with them, no problem. :)
 
Great! I’ve used Vionic shoes for years. They really helped my foot pain. The only problem is that I feel compelled to stick with them. Foot pain is serious and I pamper my feet to prevent it. Of course, this is my experience. Others may not have the same luck with them.
 
Ecco shoes are quite nice, good arch support and leather, bit pricey but I live in them when I am on my feet all day. I also use Vionic too.
 
Sketchers do proper shoes and walking boots as well as trainers, and slippers and sandals.

Have you considered seeing a podiatrist? Mine not only got me special insoles/orthotics but also recommended shoes...
 
Have you lost a lot of weight? That can lead to metatarsalgia which is what your pain sounds like, due to loss of fat in the soles of the feet.

I've got a pair of Hotter shoes, incredibly comfortable. Another solution might be sorbothane insoles, but I agree you should try to see a podiatrist. Not a chiropodist - a podiatrist is a more advanced practitioner.

The other thing which might help - it helped me - is calf raises as they also strengthen the muscles under the food. Do them s-l-o-w-l-y, especially when going down, and consider doing them on a step so you can let your heels go below your toes.
