Hi
I am a 58 year old (early) retired NHS medical photographer.
Female
Married for 16 years to a lovely guy 5 years my senior.
We have a cute dog
I really enjoy gardening
Non drinker, non smoker.
Try to have a healthy diet (been on that many healthy eating courses, I have lost track)

I have come on here to find out how common it is for a person to jump from a HA1C of 44 to 53 over the period of a year after being at the lower level steadily for around 5 years.

During the last six months I have had a knee replacement with general anaesthetic, trials of three different blood pressure tablets and due to the operation I have slowed down somewhat.

I have had chronic liver disease (stage 3 fibrosis) for well over 7 years, but my blood enzymes have been stable, with only one enzyme ever peeking above normal levels.

However this latest series of blood tests (which included the high HA2C levels) saw three of my liver enzymes floating above the "normal" levels, and my forever erratic TSH levels plummeted down to 1.3 from borderline high.

It's all a bit much at once for me, and I am hoping I can be directed to the best section of the forum where the question of what could be setting off this high HA2C and whether it's related to these other blood findings would be
TIA Glenys

The first question: What do you eat? The advice for others from the NHS does T2 diabetics no good are it has far too many carbs, so although you say you eat a healthy diet it might not be the best to get your HbA1c down.

Seconding @TriciaWs here. What do you consider "healthy"? Between your liver being off and your blood sugars too, you might want to look into low carbing indeed.... It will do miracles for your blood sugars, and can potentially make your liver a bit better, though not sure with fibrosis already in the mix. https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html might help some.

Hope you'll feel better soon!
Jo
