Hi I'm hoping to try the Libre 2.
Does it need any apps ?
Does it need to work with my cell phone?
Or is it basically like a Libre 1?

My Libre 2 app was white screening and crashing too. I uninstalled/re-installed and logged in many times but to no avail. I spent over an hour on the phone to Abbott who were clueless. I then wondered if it was the Novopen that was the issue so phoned Novonordisk too. The lady there said to leave the pen on the phone when doing the scan u til it was complete (I had not uploaded my doses for a while) and this seems to have done the trick. It’s laborious but, just keep trying, eventually, it works!!

I don't have it yet.

Just like the Libre 1, Libre 2 uses the LibreLink app.
There is an option for a reaser but, if you are just trying it, I wouldn't bother.
You need a smart phone with NFC and Bluetooth.

The differences between Libre 1 and Libre 2 are
- Libre 1 is no longer available
- Libre 2 is now (mostly) a real time CGM - you do not need to scan the sensor to download the latest BG. I say "mostly" because the update for this is being rolled out now.

Is it set up to be read by your pharmacy somehow when you wear it
No. It is inserted by you to be read by your phone.
My pharmacist would have no clue about setting it up.
Take a look on the Libre website where there are some videos showing how to insert it and use the LibreLink app.

I don't have a special cell phone so I'm getting a reader?
As in like the Libre 1 reader.

The Libre 2 Reader was like the Libre 1 reader.
I believe they are phasing these out to be replaced by kind of dumb phone with only one app.
The current (Libre 1-like) Libre 2 readers do not support rtCGM and still require scanning.

O gosh I hope not.
I can only use one with a reader.
But when I called today my pharmacy said I don't need to use my cell or any apps.
Hopefully they are right.

If they phase out the readers but you have a old cell phone how is it to be scanned? How do you know your blood sugar readings?

Phasing out the reader would be a mistake finger pricking is still required , should the phone app crash ( as recent experience proves ) if no reader available make sure you have an “old fashioned” blood sugar tester and strips

Well it arrived and it has a reader. Now to get it going when im absolutely electronics illiterate.

I have no clue. I got it used refurbished I think they call it. A Motorola is all I know about it.
Doesn't matter, you got a reader with it and I think that will suit you better than your phone. :)

You already have experience with the Libre 1 don't you?
It's really pretty much the same.

Yep. Just trying to read the small print with my magnifying glass.
Someone else did it for me with the libre 1. And they can't help me for another 2 weeks.
But if I can't I do have some test strips left for my freestyle lite.

So a few questions.
1. What does this mean--
"Do a blood glucose test if the sensor glucose reading does not include a current glucose number"
2. "Codes on labels must match"
3. Where can you put the reader so it's "within 6 meters of you at all times"
and be unobstructed.

I haven't put a sensor on yet as I have to be sure of understanding.

If your libre don't tell you what your blood glucose is you should do a finger prick.
2. "Codes on labels must match"
No idea. But I have been using the Libre 2 for years and have never worried about it.

In your pocket?
On the table?
on your nightstand?
Depending on what you are doing at the moment.

So in my purse while shopping wouldn't work?
As that's not unobstructed?
