9.5 and steadily going down. I'm grateful for this forum as I was self sabotaging on holiday and had a scare where I came back and felt super sleepy! Working on the lo carb aspect of things.

Yes, you should test immediately on getting up. Taking a shower or any other activity will make your BG go up.

I didn't know this and will check with this in mind tomorrow.

As soon as I wake up in the morning, I clean my hands with warm water and regular soap, dry my hands with a clean small towel and check my FBG. It takes about 3-5 minutes after waking up.

Mine was 6.3 at first waking 6AM. Went to bed for a bit of a lie-in until 7.16 AM and tested again, went up to 6.7. Reckon I must have been dreaming about pie and chips. Just goes to show first thing is best.
