"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

How far will you have to swim, Antje? I see the destination, thanks to your arrow, but how wide is the canal and how far do you have to walk to get to your starting point? Good luck with the dog.
I found a picture on the internet, it's a shorter swim than the one I had in the rain this morning. :)
I expect to be able to get in where the bike is, and getting out doesn't look like an issue either.

I hope I can leave my car at the blue X and swim at the blue dots.

Hope it's not too cold. Enjoy yourself. You'll certainly make an impression.

I had a fun afternoon. :)
Pyt turned out to be a friendly man, we had a nice talk over coffee, but the date was mostly with his overenthousiastic, very funny, and rather large dog who insisted he was a lapdog and wanted wild cuddles. Which is as fine a date as any, I love meeting fun new dogs. :hilarious:
No second date will happen though, he's not my type and I'm not his.

My aunt had a huge boxer like that. He seemed to think everyone was a pillow for him to lie on.

Nothing
Legs hurt too much from insulin side effects. I'm hungry b u t hurts too much. And at this pain level if my food wants to "get me" I can't safely be making several runs up and down my stairs .

One of my cousins had a lurcher with a similar temperament; docile, funny and forever looking
for a vacant lap.

So sorry you're in pain @cdpm. Do make sure you have plenty to drink. You can't beat water out of the tap IMO, but almost any sugar-free beverage will do.

Leave tap water to stand in your fridge for 10 minutes and it tastes wonderful, especially when you're thristy.

Gone very quiet on here.

Had some of the new crispbread for breakfast with some Cheddar. Went out for what should have been a coffee morning but there were lots of delays and the time was changed to 1 pm. Then people didn't arrive until 2 pm. Ended up with black tea, not coffee and no food - it was all very carby (including baking that I did) so had the remaining pork/bean/cabbage casserole.

My Libre fell off today so I'm back to fingerpricking. Have to remember that I won't get an alarm if BG goes too high or too low.

Contact Abbott and you'll likely get a replacement.

Mine fell off as well today, but it was two hours before it would have expired anyway so I'm not bothering Abbott on this one.
Otherwise, I always do, never had a problem getting a replacement.

Unexpected busy day today but checking in now, thanks to your prompt. :joyful:
Went to bed way too late yesterday after learning I'll be the main (and only) speaker at a low carb group in 3 weeks.
Worse, it's in English. My written English is way better than my spoken English.
Also, the last presentation I gave was at 8 years old, it was about rabbits, especially my own rabbit. So I'm a bit rusty when it comes to presentations.
It'll be just me, no fancy stuff with pictures.

I think I'd like to come in from a LC and T1 angle, but it has to be interesting for T2's and people who choose LC for weightloss, not diabetes as well, chances are I'm the only T1.
So please fire away with ideas on my presentation, and come in with all your random tips and tricks for giving presentations as well.

The things one does for a free meal... :hilarious:

The day started early.
Aqua sessions have resumed after the summer holidays, but I'm still swimming outside every morning. So a cold swim was followed by aquarobics in the warm pool with my friend.
My friend asked if I'd be interesting in painting his garden shed, 15 euros an hour, work when it suits me and the weather.
So after the swimming pool we went to his place to see what the job looked like. I made a list of things I'd need and went off to buy them, he seemed rather happy to not have to supervise me. I'll simply come and go as I see fit and get the job done. Perfect now I haven't found a job yet, and with my holiday in two weeks, job searching will have to wait a bit longer.
I made a start with cleaning and removing spider poop and spider nests from all little corners too.

A couple of people from the wild swimming app I used to swim with until I changed to daily swims closer to home were going for a swim at 4 pm, and their swimming spot is en route on my way back so I joined them. Yes, that's a third swim in one day.
Their canal turned out to be a lot warmer than mine, so we had a wonderful 30 minute swim!

I didn't feel like cooking so I had a pork chop and a slice of lc bread with smoked herring, will make a proper meal again tomorrow.
Two extra dogs to keep me company in bed as well, my friend asked if I wanted to take them for the night after working on his garden shed.
Time to join them and my own two, they're all in bed already.

Hmmn ... Public speaking has its wrinkles @Antje77 if you're not used to it.

Admittedly, there's not a lot of material overlap between LC, weight loss and diabetes on one hand and um ... your pet rabbit.

If it was me, I'd take along a couple of slides or photos, preferably humurous ones. That raises a laugh and gives your audience a focal point while you collect your thoughts. Your host(s) can provide a screen and projector, I'm sure.

You have a lovely sense of humour, @Antje77. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Most of my day has been spent getting to an airport ready for a trip tomorrow, the joys of living remotely. Food had to accommodate my busyness, so breakfast was low carb zucchini bread, lunch a hard boiled egg and some nuts, and so far no dinner. Not a particularly nutritious day but oh well, the occasional poor day won’t hurt. Hmm just realized there was a large bowl of mixed veggie salad before the rather late lunch, leftover, not planned over, from last night so more nutritious than I originally thought. Not looking forward to the 3am start.

Some stories, preferably with some humour in them, come in handy to get an audience's interest. Pictures as well to give them something to look at. You get involved in many adventures, so there must be a store of suitable tales to tell which could illustrate the points you want to make. I would plan - introduction (who you are and your qualification to speak on the subject); points you want to make; make the points with a story or picture to illustrate them; summarise the important points as a conclusion; thank the audience for listening; possibly invite questions. Keep it fairly short - attention span is not all that long whatever the audience - and keep it light and humourous, without being a comedy act.

Mostly, do it with confidence. You can do this Antje!

Breakfast: Fish pie filling out of the freezer. There's more of it to use so that will be the second meal as well.

Alistair reports that the 2 remaining dogs are much quieter and calmer now that Archie is gone. Nevertheless, Banksie is going to his new home the week after next. That'll just leave Hugo, and with any luck, he will stop demanding attention by barking all the time. Alistair and family will be going away during the October break so the plan is for Hugo to come here for a few days. Shouldn't be too much trouble (hopeful?) Neil's good at training dogs so perhaps he will learn to behave a bit better while he's here. Come to that, I don't take too much nonsense from dogs either, so I might be able to do something with him.
