Tracking app, advise, please! Mounjaro/GLP-1 medications

Hi all,

Anyone currently using a tracking app for injection, weight-loss tracking, food and water intake? I noticed Maxbud on TikTok. Looks interesting with the AI feature. But just wanted to see if anyone is using this app and would love some honest feedback!

Sorry, I know I'm asking the same question again but I really wanted to know how you all track your medications. I've been wondering if I should use Maxbud app to help as it seems to have all the features needed (such as AI consultant, GLP-1 injections, water and food intake), you can also see your progress on a daily, monthly and yearly basis.

Before that, I've been simply using excel to track all my medications, but it's just not that convenient enough. I'm sure you all have those days when you forget to record and you can't remember any details.

So really keen to hear from anyone who has tried Maxbud or has used any similar apps before that you find helpful. Thank you!
 
Hi @Azzurra and welcome to the DCUK forums. I can't find any mention of maxbud on the DCUK forums before now (though it looks like quite a recent app) so I suspect that is why you haven't had any replies about that.

As regards tracking apps, though I believe forum members do use them, most people are interested in tracking their blood sugar as well as other parameters like weight loss and food intake. So I'm not sure whether maxbud would work for them, as it doesn't appear to cover that?

Mind you, as a T1 diabetic, I would love it if it could tell me the carbohydrate value of a meal from a photo, but I am frankly very skeptical about that as a possibility.

Hi Ellie, thanks for your reply. That's why!

Yes, it seems like a fairly new app. Just start to use it, but just wondering if I need to get the premium version instead. If someone has already been using it, then that's perfect. But yeah, I get your point. It does have the feature to track weightloss and food intake, but no track for blood sugar though.

About the calories of a meal, it has an AI feature where you'll know the calories of your meal just by taking a picture of it. Not sure how it does that, but it seems quite convenient to me.

I too am very sceptical about this app. I wouldn’t trust it to get any macros including calories correct from a photo. Not sure how it would tell how much, butter, oil flour, cheese etc is in a sauce for instance. Or in my case my Cauli mash in which I put cream cheese, butter and grated cheese in, all melts in so not visible and even looks to the real eye like mashed potatoes.

I may be old school (or even be seen as a dinosaur ;))but I prefer to us Myfitnesspal for all my tracking, yes you have to add stuff physically but once you build up your own data base it’s very accurate, you can add all your macros, water exercise, weight, measurements etc and if you have a smart watch you can link it to your exercise, steps to see how many calories you’ve burned Not sure if it tracks meds though.

Can I ask if you don’t mind sharing @Azzurra are you tracking other meds as well as your GLP-1 meds? Just interested as I thought those type of meds were just once a week injections so would have thought they wouldn’t need much tracking (don’t know a lot about these meds so happy to be corrected if I’m wrong)

Are you double checking the info it gives you on your calories & macros from the photo by another method just to see if it is being accurate?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! After trying it several times, I think it's safe to say that the AI scanner is more accurate when the meal is at least more visible to see, say an apple, an egg. You can also scan the barcode of the food. When it comes to the cases that you mentioned, such as the sauce, It has the option to add stuff too if the results of the AI scanner isn't accurate enough or you just prefer to add them physically. So I thought this feature if quite thoughtful already.

Thanks for the recommendations of Myfitnesspal. Sounds like a great app indeed. But I do want to track my GLP-1 meds all in one place too. That way, I get to see the progress of taking GLP-1 for a certain period of time and then how fast or slow I'm losing weight because of the GLP-1 I'm taking. Shall I maybe take more or less or no need to take it anymore, etc? I think tracking can keep me updated with all the info I need to lose weight more effectively.
