Online Chat Room

was just thinking the other day about how we interact so much on this forum and if any of you would be interested if i set up an online chat room for us all to meet up in.
your thoughts please...

IT sounds good on paper, but................... it's the safety aspect that concerns me the most , probably because I'm female  It would be good if other members voiced their views ( or their concerns, if any)

RRB :)

Well it would only be running when we had some trusted people were running administration to make sure everyone behaves. All people would have to register so they can be traced if needs be. I've set a test one up if anyone would like to test it out just ask for a link. You will need to register with an email address or you can log in with Facebook or your Google account

It would be a good idea. There are many topics and discussions, points of view not allowed here. It would give an option to discuss these points. The downside to that is a lot of people that get offended by those topics would then be offended in the chat rooms.
But it would be a great place to let off steam
This thread (and its chat room suggestion) is well over ten years old. You're unlikely to get a reply.

Are you on Facebook?
There are lots of groups on diabetes where almost anything goes.

I find they are less constructive advice and more me me me!
So do I, most of the time, and there are exceptions even in Fb groups. But I reacted to someone who'd like a place to discuss 'topics and discussions, points of view not allowed here'.
I'm well aware of what is and isn't allowed here, and our forum ethos/rules are there for safety and to keep the forum welcome for all, and I largely agree with them. I also strongly believe this place is more constructive than most Fb groups because some things aren't allowed.

I couldn't agree more @Antje77 there is such nastiness elsewhere.
On here I worry about being smug and or pompous and try to point out anything i do is correct for me and me alone.
I avoid certain topics simply because i struggle to articulate myself!!

The world is just a great big onion.

I hope it doesn't make you cry

Sorry.

On a serious note I try to avoid sounding superior, I am after all only 8 weeks diagnosed, but people can take offence at anything if they're determined. I'm not sure the freedom of a chatroom is worth the almost inevitable descent into namecalling and worse, at least not for me.

There are plenty of diabetes groups on face book. This here is far more superior than any of them. It's safe and highly moderated so we all feel safe, why fix what isn't broken?
