What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.5 this morning.
Today l did a really interesting Zoom course on neurological disorders and pilates. The teacher (a physiotherapist) was absolutely brilliant and so were the course notes. I will definitely do further courses with her. I have almost got my CPD points for the year - which ends 1/3/2026. Always good to get them early.

Hour later 6.1 Disappointing.
Kiki did try a little bit of scratching this morning, but I hissed at her and told her Bad Girl! No! She settled again and we both got up just after the church bells announced seven o'clock.
A few very pretty pink clouds against a blue sky looks promising for todays weather. I might go on an organised walk this morning, although I am aware some friends will be calling at an unspecified time to collect the cabinet unit which is in the way in the dining room. It will soon be useable again if not as tidy as before.
The garden is still being productive with tomatoes, courgettes and runner beans to harvest every day, there is even a solitary sweet pepper and the odd strawberry, although the French beans have given up and a couple of the courgette plants have too. Don't think there will be many more from them.
I have lost a tiny bit of weight this week, which I am pleased about. This is an area where MrSlim is not helpful, his dietary requirements are almost totally opposite to mine. He needs white carbs, and a low salt, low protein diet. Although the low protein part is not much in evidence. He also thinks he needs sugar. So there are always biscuits and bread in the house, and he likes a late night snack of bread and cheese, being a generous soul he prepares enough for two...

11.4 at 02.45 today.

The GP gave me some patches to help with the pain in my hip, with the hope that it would let me get some sleep. After some consideration because the pharmacist gave different instructions to the ones on the packet, I used the first one last night. It didn't make a jot of difference and I slept for 11/2 hours. Got up, took painkillers and fell asleep again in the big chair, for another 21/2 hours.

G is still at 11.1 after insulin and breakfast. On my 3rd cup of tea. Not planning to do much today.

Good afternoon everyone (just).
5.8 this a.m.
Just been for a walk in the sunshine, a pleasant 3 miles.
Mrs Miggins is now in the garden cutting flowers to take to her sister. They will go to the cemetery.
Pot on Mrs Miggins’ arm now removed. The three fractures (one in the radius and two in the scaphoid) are still visible and there is some bruising on the tendon. So, a removable splint and an exercise regime. A physio appointment in the morning and go from there.
Art bit. Found some coloured inks in a box so having a play to see how they (me) perform(s).
Hope you are all as well as you can be - getting old does mean being braver than you would want but it’s nicer to be in the day rather than under it.

This painting is beautiful @dunelm

Have had fun on the phone with the carers company, not coming yesterday.
and they have apologised for the obvious mistake. But we're confused about my previous phone calls on Friday.
Mrs L is having a bed day and we have had our Sunday lunch delivered thanks to my eldest.
Best wishes.

This site's uploader doesn't want to work with my iPad mini...

Up just before 02.00 after about 90 minutes sleep. BG 10.5.
Tea, insulin and painkillers and it was 11.4.
More tea, more insulin, more painkillers and it was at 9.5.
Must have some breakfast and even more insulin.

Wonder of wonders - Neil has managed to get a GP appointment for next Friday. It only took about 6 weeks to get it.
He's been forced to get himself a mobile phone because he wants to sell some stuff on EBay and they won't accept a landline number. It went very much against the grain, I have to say.

Mr Slim has got all the radiators working. Both of us up and down the stairs frequently checking for leaks from the newly installed thermostatic controls and the bleed valves. 37 stairs is a fairly good workout.
Went for a walk in the afternoon and discovered more of this town. A park with a fishing pond and play equipment. Afterwards found a walk through fields and woods with obvious badger activity.
Time to try again the new shampoo.

Phone call to doctors at 8.30am.
Doctor phoned back at 9.10am.
Carer arrived at 9.45am.
Doctor arrived at 11.45 am.
Television man arrived at 1pm.
Expecting mental health practitioner, but for some reason didn't arrive.
Phoning Specsavers no one answering, don't know time of my appointment tomorrow.
Expecting a few phone calls from family this evening.

Ok, Mrs L is not feeling too good. Still coughing and tired. More antibiotics.

Have to tell you lot, one of mine is in Egypt. At the same time as the big event in the same place.
He did say he was on holiday...... However...... If he is ...... I can't say!
Just a coincidence!

But of gardening news, a few of my spring bulbs have already sprouted, my roses and autumnal plants are thriving, grass is growing more than anytime this year. What is going on?

Best wishes

Fbg 6.3

I had planned on something different today, but I was just on my Chi Machine, and I and my legs are wobbling from side to side, and on gets cat Midnight...he is being shaken from side to side (hence not a clear photo)....he is clinging on to my legs with his claws to stop being thrown off...Midnight looks utterly blissed out - eyes half-closed, tongue peeking out, like he’s in a deep wave of pure relaxation. It’s a peaceful expression, as if he’s saying, “Yes, mum, this vibration is immensely agreeable.”

He had a full session...

Time for sleep now...

Night night...

Sweet dreams....

Uploader won't work from my iPad, so here is the link...

Had a couple of days with better control of eating and I can actually feel the difference, which is encouraging, because it is really difficult at times.
For example: On Saturday there was most of a homemade lemon cake, five pain au raisin, two croissants, two opened packets of biscuits plus two unopened, several packets of crisps( naughty MrSlim - he should not have those, low salt diet) and of course bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and fruit. Breakfast cereals I can resist fairly easily as well.
So today's menu is still undecided, but will not contain much of the list above.
Lunch:Coleslaw will feature with lettuce and cherry tomatoes,( from the garden) bread about 10cm of baguette.
Dinner: there are sprouts and one carrot, few baby potatoes left from yesterday, of course runner beans from the garden. They feature nearly every day now. The freezer is full, but the plants are still producing well. Maybe beefburgers? We won't be needing those in winter, that would create a tiny bit of space. Invite friends for lunch? Friday is supposed to be sunny and it is market day....
Musings end here.

BG is being difficult these days. I'll probably have to go back onto the Metformin to get it back. BG has been anywhere up to 16.0 in the last couple of days.

9.7 by the time I got through to the kitchen at 04.35 today but 10.4 after a cup of tea and basal insulin.
Plenty more insulin and very low carb breakfast later, it is 11.0 (09.58).
This is not the way it is meant to go.
Question now is - should I take more insulin to try to force it down or just leave it and see what happens? I have to go out shortly (dentist) and don't want it to drop too far - if it decides to take note of the insulin this time. ? I was trying to put in an emoji here but it won't accept it. Odd.

EDIT: I didn't take a correction dose. Just as well - by the time we got home again, BG was 6.9 - all by itself.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Just.

I have been at the doctors this morning having my legs treated and very messy dressinge changed.

My blood sugars are still under the hospital’s control and it would not a fair reading.

Have a good day all.
