Hi all,
4 years ago I switched to a low carb diet (moderate low carb, <75g carbs a day) and my HbA1C went from 48 into the "normal" range, i.e. sub 40 mmol/mol after 3 months. Never really got rid of dawn effect high morning fasting levels. I use a Libre sometimes to check spikes/how things are going. So have been in "remission" for over 3.5 years.
In Feb and April this year my HbA1C was 38 and 36. But in August went up to 43 and has just been measured again at 42.
Not sure what is going on: my diet hasn't changed. Had a few stressful "adventure" over the summer. Weight hasn't changed (I am a thin Type 2, 14% body fat, BMI 21)
Having checked with a Libre over last couple of months my blood sugar response is behaving strangely at times, eg
- never drops low even if not eating anything (staying above 6 or 7 during day & night)
- reacting to low carb meals (some v low carb) by going much higher than used to
- sometimes not reacting to a moderate carb meal.
Has anyone else experienced similar?
Many thanks
