What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.2 libre. got some info back from consultant regarding gad injections thing.

Alongside possible iv treatment (teplizumab) to delay 'stage3' been doing a little bit of research this morning and a TINY bit last night. looks fairly promising. something i'm looking forward to is the 26th of november. which will have official nice guidelines the draft guidelines are currently viewable: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/indevelopment/gid-ta10981/documents could possibly delay 'stage3' by 3 years IF i fall within the criteria seeing consulatant over the next few weeks to discuss possible options that have been sent in a little more detail. ofc with the big caveat could i actually tolerate treatment IV for 14 days in a row heck knows at the moment i'd like to give it a shot. still weighing up pro's and con's. perhaps if do tolerate for several days it maybe very beneficial with the phobia, exposure therapy can work right? :O its nice to see enough progress made with the last study for it to become part of the nice guidelines for possible treatment. :)

Back again..
Last few days
74,72,73,7 66,72,7.o and today 6.8..
Found breakfast keeps bs abit high all day
So eat as late as ican pre midday
Generally down to 6.5 by evening.
Gone back to no cheating (carb creep)
Also testing again to see what raises b.s. Two hours after first bite..
Generally raised by about two points but slowly goes back to the original reading.
I find onions spike more than I thought
Can't cook without onions!
Let see how it goes!
Thanks for any advice passed on!

red onions pretty high carb content vs for instance GREEN onions such as spring onions maybe could swap between types? general order of carb content green < white < brown < red can swap out onion for leek as well sometimes

6.1…oh well. Cool and cloudy today, maybe rain later.
Leg day today and a 30 min bike ride. Shopping too…Walmart and Costco. Costco was busy…and the start to Christmas begins.
Making a pizza for supper. Hubby will have a gluten free crust, but it’s too many carbs for me. I’ll make a couple of chaffles…so just egg and cheese, they make good crusts. I’ll have a tiny bit of sauce, my only carbs. I will put peppers and onions on hubby’s, but not for me.
Hubby’s hyperthyroid condition had a flare today, he’s so sore and his heart is racing….very worrisome. So, more bloodwork, and ECG, and some prescription pain meds….poor guy, he’s always been the picture of health!

libre 5.3. had appt with diabetic dietician yesterday whining about my carb intake too little heavily trying to push upping carbs especially requesting to eat more pasta/rice/potatoes. completey wasted appt, most of time was spent disagreeing. My carb intake usually somewhere between 95-120g per day. They think i should be eating around 200g carbs min per day ideally 220-230g. i had followed advice based on 'eat well plate' for a few years prior to diagnosis and indeed when initially diagnosed sugars were consistantly pretty high. made changes lowered some food intakes over the last 10 months. taking zero insulin for several months now. Why would i want to try fix something which doesn't to me, appear broken?

screenshot is from when got brave enough to have libre inserted. at that point of time was also requiring 6 units novarapid with all meals, ontop of 18 units long acting toujeo. Mealtimes at the moment usually somewhere between 2.5 and 3mmol difference after 2 hours. unless eat the likes of lasangue 3+ hours later +4mmol difference for a good few more hours (prob fat slowing digestion).

been recremmended vitd suppliment. happy to try that part of the advice. dietician wants to see me in 4 weeks to see how got on with the advice.. did tell her i wouldnt be increasing to what she suggests on carb front. ketones is what they worried about might try maybe singular digistive biscuit (9g carbs) or something in between meals, to see if that has any effect on lowering ketone levels which are fairly consistantly higher than normal (but not unexpected on lowish carb). i do wish cgm able to check ketone levels as well as bg still struggle with finger pricks. only other info gained from the appt was on 'honeymoon period' usually sometime between a few months and a year. Approaching 10 months and in general been getting better average levels as time progresses pretty much.

I get much the same advice as yourself when it comes to a concentration on reducing carbs. I strongly believe they are just following a script rather than looking after individual needs. I suppose that is due to the increasing numbers of diabetes patients and the time pressures to deal with us all.
My own achievements with lower carb and subsequent lower BS are totally ignored and in fact frowned upon, even being told that there is no need to test on a regular basis and in fact I am wasting my money by purchasing test strips or CGMs. Thankfully there is enough evidence on forums such as this (even if it is anecdotal as DN maintains) to prove that reducing carbs and testing does work and HbA1c readings have come down significantly for me at least.
Such a shame that there is no recognition of the strategies that do work for some even if it differs from some medical opinion.
Anyway rant over, 6.1 this morning and in a good mood as a weeks holiday later today in the sunshine.
