I set off a load of washing and when I went back to the kitchen it was underwater! Not really the way I'd planned to clear out and clean the under sink cupboards but at least they're done
This is why I love not having downstairs neighbours!
Accidents do happen with my washing machine sometimes, but it only floods my own basement.
It looks like my new neighbour/tenant will stay for an unknown but likely pretty long time, considering housing problems in the Netherlands and his mental health, time to properly introduce him. I already had neighbour-in-the-garden Tale, who lives in a trailer he made into a true home.
My new neighbour is Andries, a 60 year old man struggling with depression and life. Still staying in the spare room for now, the small caravan in the garden is still too alone at the moment.
All the true crisis elements of his mental health problems (voices, paranoia, panic) have vanished now he's starting to feel he's in a safe place with people who actually like him. Which leaves depression, a tendency to pull back into himself like a hermit not unlike my own, some anxiety. And considering what he told me of his past, a high chance of losing himself in some delusions when things aren't going well.
No problem, he's welcome to stay, we have no issues with people who are a bit different.
Only too bad we both have trouble doing household stuff like cooking, dishes, moving stuff out of the way etc. Next time I adopt someone, remind me to choose one with a great inner urge for household chores!
This afternoon he brought kibbeling as a surprise, fried fish pieces in batter, and I love that he sent me a text message when he ordered so I could take insulin for it in advance!
That was an early dinner. Followed by a very late and experimental meal of tomato, mozzarella, balsamic vinegar, with every slice of tomato topped with some spicy kimchi. Can recommend, no matter how messy it looks!
