Anybody else find LC just does not work for them?

I've tried, I really have. Months and months this time - on my fitnesspal, logging everything I eat every day. I dont eat much at all, very low appetite, consistently around 600/700 calories and under 60 carbs at most. I haven't lost an ounce. What do I do next? So bloody fed up with this. Background - poor mobility due to arthritis and ME/CFS, picky eater at the best of times, food is def not my friend these days.
 
Would you mind giving examples of what you have logged on MFP, so we can come up with suggestions for anything that could be altered, @fumanchu?
I also struggle to lose weight, but the amount of calories you are consuming is around half of what I consume. I find I cannot eat large quantities of fat as some people do. It is a constant balancing act.

@fumanchu I was on a very LC regime for 9 months < 35 gms carbs per day, it made little or no difference to my blood sugars, but I lost so much weight, I looked very ill. I had to increase my carbs to gain some weight back.
 
I can't eat alot of fat either pipp - grumbling gallstones :) When I get overtired I tend to have a plate of cereal or instant porridge. Or crisps or a sandwich. These are easy and quick to eat when you have ME and are too tired to even try to cook. When I'm sticking to the LC - which is most of the time - then it's home made veg soup, sometimes bacon egg and mushroom. Slow cooker casseroles, sausage or chicken, sometimes lamb, & always with loads of veg chucked in. We don't eat fast food, not ever.
 
Melgar my BG is good but I'm still a stone overweight!!! I can't lose it at all.

Hi @fumanchu veg are carbs too.
You say low carb around 60 grams but how are you counting this?
I know for myself in the beginning I never took into account onions, mushrooms, garlic or even carrots in as they were flavour in a stew.:banghead:

Simplest answer maybe that you need to go even lower carb 20 - 50 grams for a Keto diet. :bookworm:

Reading your second post bowls of cereal this is high carb (sugar) with added sugar usual sprinkled on top and served in milk (lactose (sugar)). Its also surprising how much added sugar there can be in a packet of crisp

This is no judgment here @fumanchu I just fell of the waggon myself bought crunchy nut cornflakes feeling rundown needed a treat and was up through the night constantly peeing. Every now an again is not a big issue but my bladders response tells me this is not sustainable.

I have found every now and again it pays to keep a food journal for a couple of weeks to see the difference between what you think you are eating and what you eat. You may find there are more carbs in your diet that you have accounted for and this could be what's keeping you from you goal.

Yep, it has to be iron control I think and I'm not sure I'm up to it! I didn't think though about the veg in stew tipping me over the carbs.. How would you measure that to get a true picture? And this does help, ty :)

You might be making things difficult for yourself by eating high carb foods from time to time - I find that avoiding anything not on my list is the best option for keeping on track with the least effort.
Loads of veges might be a problem too - I have a list of low carb options because some veges are best avoided as they are high in starch.
Perhaps having things easily available for times when you are tired might help - cooked meat, hard boiled eggs, tins of tuna, a bowl of ready grated cheese and coleslaw beside it in the fridge - making the better choices also the easy ones is a good ploy.
 
Cooked meat is always good, yes. Not mad on eggs and can't stand cheese - always been a picky eater and I know that doesn't help at all. I like spelt bread though and also bran bread - so sandwiches on that and cold meat work.

How would you measure that to get a true picture
A quick google search is usually the answer to everything. :bookworm:

Carbs in a Medium Carrot (61g): 6 grams
A medium-sized onion (about 110g) has roughly 10.3 grams.
Mushrooms Per cup - approximately 70–96 grams of button mushrooms has about 2.3 grams carbs.

2 carrots an onion and a cup full of mushrooms will add almost 20 grams of carbs to your meal. ( to be fair they are in a stew and is serve more than just you).

Little things add up.

As you are trying to lose weight too @fumanchu maybe look at the amount you are eating. That amount of calories is not enough. Your body will likely be protecting itself by going into starvation mode. Try upping it to a thousand at least.

I find protein more satiating than fat or carb foods.

I also agree that prolonged periods of very low calorie eating does not help with weight loss, though short periods of no more than 2 weeks on reduced calories does sometimes kick start a weight loss. As does having a couple of days a week when I fast until late afternoon.
 
I do less than 20g carbs a day but I too prefer protein to fat, fat leaves me sluggish & believe it or not I find it a trigger food to over eat. I only lose weight when I watch my fat & count calories. Though lots here will tell you calories don’t matter they 100% do for me. Anything over a few days eating more than 1300 calories & I gain weight, no matter where those calories come from, be it fat, protein or the few carbs I have. Nearly all my carbs come from above ground fresh veggies & celeriac

The websites that @Pipp has pointed you too are very good for recipes, info etc. I think the Diet Doctor one even has a no cooking 7 day meal plan which you may find particularly helpful
