Hello everyone
I joined this forum because I wanted to share my experience hoping to help others.
I was diagnosed pre diabetic approximately two maybe two and a half years ago. About me. I’m 55 now, train 6 times a week (was previously to my diagnosis) I’m what some would call a racing snake. My doctor did a random blood check and informed me I was pre diabetic. I was dumbfounded. She said just ease up on the fizzy drinks I said I don’t drink them at all she said then cut down on the sugary foods I said I cut almost it all out in 2016 due to stomach issues, she said alcohol? I said I don’t drink at all. Anyhow I’ve been battling the glucose meter for the last two years with the results being the harder I tried to get my numbers down the worse my reading would be. I should say the Dr said my average was 6. I’ve been testing my self from one to three times a day with the finger prick test and I’ve ranged from ,good mid 5’s to not so good high 6’s and the odd 7 even 8. I don’t take any medication and have been really struggling to come to terms with this especially as I couldn’t control the reading whether I fasted all day or trained harder, well actually training longer did drop one point temporarily but training very intensely increased the number maybe 2 points.
My diet. I’ve been a vegetarian most of my life but started eating fish because most of my diet previously was carbohydrates, pasta potatoes bread all manor of vegetables and fruit had to be drastically reduced. I was eating 3-4 eggs per day also.
Around 6 weeks ago I decided to stop eating fruit and vegetables as I had been concerned about the pesticide and weed killer that’s on them and after 3 weeks of only eating eggs, fish and chips and organic porridge and cheese tosties my glucose numbers started to drop. Now after 6 weeks of the same diet my numbers seem totally normal healthy numbers ranging from low to high 4’s my glucose monitor says the last two weeks my average is 4.4 now I can tell you I would have needed to cycle 30mins to be 4.4 the change in my numbers it astonishing for me and my mood as I know that dreaded feeling when the numbers are high.
I know everyone is going to be different but even if you google search pesticides and diabetes it confirms it. It seems even organic fruit and vegetables can have some pesticides on them.
Hopefully this information helps someone.
