hi

how do i work out the carb value of something. for eg today is my first day and i need to now what i have in the office i can eat. there is a tin of chicken soup. how can i work out what carbs are in that. like some people say dont eat more than 30 grams etc. well how do i know what 30 grams is

steveo

It says on the side of the tin. Try myfatsecret or fitnesspal, they usually have the carb content of named brands.

there seems to be 2 meausrements

One will be for carbohydrate , the other will be how much is sugar . It's the first number you count - sadly that's always the higher number
Pre- prepared soups nearly always have high carb counts because of all the stuff they add - you're better to make your own and take in a flask / reheat at work - cheaper too!

And watch out for the low calorie soups like weight watchers I almost bought a tin thinking make a nice lunch but its was sooo high

now i see why its mostly letuce leaves you can eat lol

Its funny I think I eat so well now..for lunch I have home made ham salad and new ryvita crispbread 3carbs only for them plus 2pickled onions (I know how to live lol)..with blueberrys and small bit bio yogurt for pud..
tonight I have broccolie and salmon and couliflower with mixed peppers.
Takes five mins to do.
Does work have a micro you could steam veg and fish in or sliced chicken you make night before..
Its hard though I agree when at work

Its not that bad, but you do need to prepare stuff. Like today for breakfast I had 2 herta frankfurtas, other days I'll have some berries with greek Yog. Mid morning snack cheese string, lunch is homemade chicken and leek soup from the freezer with a tub of sugarfree jelly I made last night, mid afternoon snack a salami stick. I often spend sundays making a slow cooked casserole or curry that I then portion up and freeze, also I make a soup which is portioned up and some frozen. Its not easy to find low carb lunch options from the supermarket or local shop. I find it best to take a packed lunch.

yes i guess the key is to be prepared. been at work i stand no chance really. i need to bring it in with me. i need to prepare better

Eggs and cheese are good, they fill you more than salad, although salad with them is great too

. Sugar free jelly is probably compulsory.

its ok my boss just fed a massive **** pie so not really feeling hungry now anyway

But was it a Low Carb **** pie? <G>
Anyway EWW..
You just put me off my slice of chocolate cheesecake!

probably loaded with carbs and crack. not having a very nice day. thinking about walking

Yes, watch tinned soups for added corn starch as a thickener or sugar etc. The new Covent Garden Skinny soups are quite low carbs but NOT their standard range

i found some cheese in the friddge at work so will eat some of that

Turvell low carbing makes me feel so much better , its worth experimenting and find what works for you.
