Hi Chrissie and welcome. I would normally suggest more exercise but seems you're already super busy so you could try lowering your intake of carbs such as bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc. Maybe you could provide some info on your current diet ?

Thank you! i think the man problem is i skip dinner as im working at that time! i would normally grab a slice of toast before work! dinner prob would be a bag of crisps tea varies daily but thinking about it i prob do eat to much potatoes as we have roast dinners in the week chips, or pasta! but always oven cooked! i eat cabbage and broccoli! i like raw carrotts! i eat fish once or twice a week! chicken lamb pork or beef with roast! i dont eat much bread only a slice in morning! tend not to eat rice often! like oranges and kiwis! and grapes!

Diet sounds pretty good overall. Maybe cut down a little on potatoes ? See if this helps. If not, maybe speak to your doc. Good luck.

Hi, the toast, poataoes, crisps, chips, pasta, oranges and grapes all push your blood glucose up,

the meat, fish and veg are great

some nuts instead of the crisps, some berries instead of other fruit, if you must eat pasta make sure its wholemeal pasta, the slice of toast should be wholegrain (something like burgen soya and linseed if you can get it) lots of vegetables (vegetables that grow about ground are best as they have less starch), salad is terrific, cheese is awesome,

carbohydrates in general turn into glucose once digested (as far as your blood is concerned you may as well be eating sugar as to be eating carbs) have a read of the forum about how people eat, its a huge subject, too much to say it all

best of luck, ask questions :)

One of the best diets I found was one from the Mayo Clinic. You multiply your weight x10, that's how many calories it takes to maintain your current weight. If you cut back 500 calories per day you should lose 1 lb. per week. My husband lost around 25# on this. He also exercised after breakfast and after supper on a stationary bicycle. He lost more than 1 lb. per week. Good luck! Hope all goes well......Julia

i recently watched a tv program that said that the chewed up nuts come out 25% undigested ie. the cells where whole when pooed out so id say the carb count could be over estimated unless you chew them in your mouth for an hour :) not sure about that thought, it was tv lol

oops this didnt cut paste very well, you could google "carbs in nuts" itll probly be clearer than this

If your levels are above 10 all the time, then you need to go back to the docs for more meds. Do you take measurements before as well as after meals? Only by doing both can you get an idea of how the food you eat affects your blood.

Maybe Chrissie if you try to lower the carbs and follow some of the recommendations on here you can avoid having to take extra meds Give it a go
