Does any1 know roughly how much humalog per every gram of carbs u shld take. Or is it solely dependent on ur blood glucose levels?! I'm struggling to get my blood sugars within target since my Dietician has decided to rapidly reduce my Levemir. :(

I think an average would be 1 unit per 10g of carbs but this can vary a lot. Has your DSN not told you what to take ? I don't think you should accept any dosing advice on a forum as we don't know anything about you and could cause you hypo's. I would suggest keeping a record of all your BG readings, carbs eaten and insulin taken for about a week and give the info to your doc or nurse.

Not used Humalog but the general staring dose is 1 unit of insulin to 10g of carbs as Mo says, to work out a correction dose if your bg is too high then you divide 100 by your total daily dose of insulin.

Ring your diabetes nurse up in the morning and ask about dose adjustments for your food.

Having used both, Humalog and Novorapid are pretty interchangeable dose wise

Thanks Rob, as I say not used Humalog but didn't think there was a great deal of difference between the two.
