Should all diabetics have to test their BG all the time or is that just those on insulin.
Does there come a time when T2's know what they can eat or not so don't go on testing every day
It's just that I know a couple of quite long term T2's who say they only test occasionally just to see how their BG is

I stopped testing when I was happy I know what I was eating, and my Hba1c was good.
I've started again now, as I'm altering my diet again, to target cholesterol, and also to maintain weight, rather than lose it. (well, I was, but I want to lose a bit more, so that's on hold)

I think if not on insulin you can reduce amount of testing as you become more knowledgeable with foods but still a good idea to keep testing as there are other factors that influence BG levels, exercise, stress, work and so on. Purely personal choice though and also comes down to availibility of strips.

Apart from morning fasting I don't feel the need test as much these day unless I try something new like the livlife bread, I have a good idea of the effects of my diet on BG levels, knowing I don't eat anything likely to give me a high spike I'm happy to keep testing to a minimum.

The fact I have to buy my own strips may be a factor too:eek:

If you are on insulin and drive no matter what type you are you legally have to test to keep your licence.
