Around about 12 months ago (8 months before diagnosis) I bought a pair of cargo shorts they are a size 42" waist, I still have them and wear them regularly but have been hoiking them up constantly and my belt is on the last hole. My wife made me buy a new pair today, same shop, same style etc but these ones are a 36" waist. 36" (and they're a little loose too!). That's a whole 6" smaller!!! Sorry there's not much point to this thread other than I am just gobsmacked how much I weighed and how different I am now.

Awesome feeling isn't it! Recently went to shops and bought a dress which was an 18. Couldn't believe it! Still keep picking up clothes that are too big. Bought a dress from Fat Face size 16 which is too small but think will get into it in about 5lbs time!

Totally understand. Fat Face and White Stuff are currently my fav shops. I can get into their sizes 16 or 18 now depending on the style. Used to live in M&S stuff because they stocked large size 22s.
My theory is that if shops didn't stock large sizes, most of us wouldn't have put on weight. Would have been self-regulating.

Thank you, I'm honestly surprised not only at how much I've lost, but how much I obviously weighed before

Oh I LOVE Fat Face stuff, I've got a pair of sunglasses that I've had for a couple of years, as soon as I can afford it I'm buying a couple of short sleeved shirts and a couple of pairs of cargo shorts for the summer. I also love Weird Fish, treated myself to a macaroni jumper last week (a large not the usual XXL!!)
Yes it is an awesome feeling, I'm absolutely sure you'll get into that dress really soon :)

Interesting theory Mushroom, some time ago I noticed that my favoured clothes shop didn't sell my size in store. Although I was outraged I just ordered the clothes online. Maybe I SHOULD have decided to lose weight and fit the clothes they sold......

That's the thing - you just find somewhere else to buy clothes from. We all ought to have lost weight but don't. I know I just buried my head in the sand. Now I can't get the weight off quick enough. Get frustrated when I maintain. Even though I know I can't lose all the time emotionally I can't help getting frustrated.

My son loves Weird Fish. Got 10 blue T-shirts.
The problem with losing weight is I went out and bought new stuff BUT in the same old style. It took a change of mindset to choose fitted rather than the usual baggy styes.

Exactly! Am lying in bed now, looking at the too small dress hanging on the wardrobe and it looks minute! My idea of size is all skewed!

Guess who got back into her size 14/16 jeans this morning then after a whole year in size 18's?? :cat:

Just bought a dress from asda today size 16. Party!!!!!!!

I can really relate to this, I felt really self conscious in more 'fitted' clothes at first.
