Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
OK so my last HbA1c has gone up, rather than re-read Dr Bernstein, take another DAFNE, or just get down about it.. can everyone post 1 rule that helps them manage their diabetes and gives them better BG control ?

No repeating, just one rule each for better management please !

Thanks folks ;)

Thanks i've stopped doing that one - injecting 15 mins beforehand so a good reminder, also changing needles, am rubbish, lucky to change one a day, please don't shout !!

Well once a day is better than once a month like someone said last night ;)

Honestly... Continuous Glucose Monitoring. Drops my average blood sugar 20%.

This can also be done "Human CGM" style by testing every 1 - 2 hours.

Just one!!!!!! I think a list of blood sugars/carbs and insulin injections and hypos...that you can constantly refer back to and just do that little tweaking and learning from.

My other number 1s are injecting before you eat, testing lots comes into my all encompassing number 1 :) and exercise does have an amazing effect on the stability of your blood sugar (I have a CGM and have honestly been amazed at what 40mins of cardiovascular exercise yesturday has done to my blood sugar...even today, not had a line as nice as this on my CGM ever - I could almost be normal :D - though need to test my theory out a little more as maybe today was just a fantastic blood sugar one!)

Keep your diary rigidly for a week or so, testing very very regularly, to identify patterns, which will enable you to adjust baseline or ratios.

(Im guilty of testing regularly, but not amending ratios often enough, rather i rely on adjustments each time :(. Shall do it myself now!!)

Get a pump so you're not put off injecting for minor corrections - previously I wouldnt inject less than 2u so would wait until i ate/ bloods got higher!

Thanks all - will try to exercise more but work full time and have a 5 year old so time is very limited, walk the dog twice a day and that's about it.. should do more !

My tip to myself - I am going to try to stop snacking between meals - that's my worst fault with diabetes, I eat alot of nuts but they still register as carbs when enough are eaten, and are keeping my BG high throughout the day. I can't help it as I get hungry though !!

Any tips to stop snacking ? ;)
