Help! I have so much weight to lose

Sorry Zand but if you are not losing weight then you are eating too much for the amount of exercise you do.
So what do you suggest I do? I exercise as much as I am able to, I hope to get fitter and be able to do more. I have an ambitious walk planned for the weekend. I weigh my food and calorie count it as well as low carbing.

boy oh boy..... or should i say girl oh girl, you hit your target, you lost a stone, what the hells wrong? be happy and proud, you even got the hump with an app you havent got lol,

Hi Zand,
It's been interesting reading your post as I too have a lot of weight to lose and hopefully get my diabetes under control at the same time.

I'm using My Fitness Pal. I've lost weight by inputting ALL my food & drink. Now I'm going to use it to keep to a low carb diet. Remember to put in your exercise. My slow walking with the dog doesn't earn me many calories, but it all adds up, and mowing the lawn or digging the garden earns me masses.

I started going to the local gym - was referred there by GP. I was one of the youngest there as I only went to GP referral sessions, but that was good as there were no body beautiful people there, just fatties, oldies and hopalong knee replacements. I fitted in fine! Check out to see if your GP has a scheme like this. I'd have preferred a buddy to go along with, but once I'd been a few times I saw the same faces and everyone was friendly. I have lapsed in this since January and am now officially adding rejoining the gym to my targets as of this week, which include low carb diet, recording my food in My Fitness Pal and not suddenly going off the rails when food shopping - if I don't buy it I can't eat it.

Thats the spirit RosieLKH.

BUT, don't kid yourself that we fatties, oldies, and hopalong knee replacements are not also body beautiful!

I tried for years and could not understand it. When I found out I had diabetes I almost stopped eating. I lost about 2 stone in a month. I started to feel rubbish and increased my fat intake a little. still losing weight but more like 1 stone every 2 months. It is not easy I know. If I was not so frightened I would still be 20 stone rather than just under 16.

tired? rest!

scared? we have nothing to fear but fear itself
Oh look, Andy12345 has come over to the dark side, and agrees with Pipp. Let him keep his hair dry, and keep lunch money tomorrow then.

i can cheer you up...

i had a weird trun today in the town centre looking for a burthday pressie for the missus, i had to sit on the floor in the middle of the street, i couldnt decide if sitting there was scarey or embarrasing lol i must have looked a right weirdo, and the best bit is i came home without a birthday present so now im gonna be hated tommorow, see it aint so bad lol

Wish I had seen that, would have chucked some change at you.

lol, that would have helped, i may carry a guitar round from now on in case it happens again
Bit unpleasnt tho. Dod you find out what caused funny turn? Thought of spending money on missus?

Sounds like a lame excuse for not getting her a pressie? Better order something online, quick!

Zand you have done so well so far. You have lost a stone since 1st April, I have only lost 3lbs more since November so when I read how much you had lost in that little time I thought wow! I have plateaued several times and the weight is coming off slowly but that is OK with me.
To be honest I don't use myfitnesspal. I tried it but couldn't work out how to put the right quantities in. I would rather write it down on a piece of paper. I also found that doing LCHF made all the results wrong (although I think you can change all that but not sure how) and it said if I carried on eating the amount of calories, fat carbs, etc I was then I would be x weight which was actually heavier than when I started:(
I do think it is a good idea to write down what you are eating just for your own piece of mind but if you are happier using pen and paper then do that.
I would say I wish you lived closed and I would go walking with you but I know that you prefer to walk alone anyway:)
You are doing well and it is bound to get you down but just remember the huge changes you have made. The other thing I noticed is earlier you said you had a piece of cheese when you were hungry - not that long ago it would have been a cake. Don't be so hard on yourself:)

Sorry if I sounded harsh. You are doing well, but there is only really one way to lose weight. Eat less than you are using.

Thanks guys. Sorry about that. I've stopped crying now.
Good.

What about poor Andy12345?

He is going to have you, me and his missus giving him grief now!

Yes you are right. You have nothing to be sorry for. It sounded harsh because it is harsh, but it's true all the same. The way forward has to be to get fitter and exercise more, much more, because I cannot eat much less, so that's the only bit of the equation I can work on. Sorry I was being so silly

That does work if you find a way. Zand it is clearly working, whatever you are doing. A stone in a month is brilliant.
Imagine how I felt when I got back into that ruddy fitness pal to find I was 17kg heavier than when I last used it two years ago!

I get knocked down, but I get up again!
