CGMS funding approved

I'm very pleased. Had a call from my DSN today and she said I have been granted funding for CGMS.
Been using enlightes for past few weeks to help with basal testing and quite pleased with results, generally very close to finger testing.

So please share which CCG you are under... I.e Milton Keynes Hosp can get Patients directly in their CCG Funding. Please share which CCG has given you funding...

I got my pump from Prince Phillip, Llanelli 4 years ago. The DSN there, and the pump consultant were truly fantastic. I didn't have to do DAFNE, just oroved I carb counted. Mind you I was in dire straits at the time having my driving licence threatened. My 1st appt with them was the day after my driving incident, the dsn, one particular consultant and then the pump consultant and someone in particular from this forum supported me fantastically. I will be eternally grateful to Carmarthen PCT. Same as I will be eternally grateful to the very soecial consultant and DSN at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Isn't it amazing that Wales are giving away free prescriptions to everyone and also South Wales certainly.

I am very happy for you that you got your CGM funded...

Best wishes.. And I miss Wales, now living back in England.. But don't miss the wet in Wales!! Much better weather in the East of UK!!

jbeer do you know what the criteria were that you satisfied in order to get the NHS funding for the pump?

I believe it was mainly due to my hypo unawareness. I've been on the pump for 8 years and been asking about CGMS for a while.
I think the Diabetes centre at Morriston is fantastic but heard a lot of good about Prince Phillip also ;-)

I was granted funding for CGMS 4 years ago. I now have it for as long as there exists a clinical need for it. I live in Reading, Berkshire but was attending the Pump Clinic in Bournemouth. Now returning to Reading Diabetes Clinic.

So have Reading agreed to fund the CGM? I have assumed that Bournemouth funded before...

My cgm funded by MK CCG no problem. Moved 25 miles away to Northampton- not a chance!!

I have lived in Reading for 25 years and therefore, funded by Reading, even though I was under the consultant in Bournemouth. Nothing has changed in that respect.
 
Thats brilliant. Used to live in Bournemouth many decades ago, and got diagnosed at Poole hospital who were brilliant. Never heard anything bad about Bournemouth hosp (parents still live there) and well done Reading CCG for funding!!!

There are good CCG's around.. Glad to hear it!!

I have lost hypo awareness a nd the hypos seemed to be happening with such speed I was unable to take corrective action. I had broken my right ankle twice and needed 4 stitches above my right eye due to hypo induced accidents. With my kids growing up and not being around to help very often, not that they should be expected to, and my youngest with special needs, the only one with me a lot of the time, it was felt that to lessen her distress and to help me cope better I should use a CGMS.
