It might be a better idea to ask the nurse at your doctors sorry should have stated that because the nurses deal with diabetes more...well that's the case in my doctors!

Good luck!

Jayleeee I really want to get the tattoo but keep debating lol what do you think ?haha

The ultimate decision is yours... Your talking to a guy who once had to persuade an ex out of tattooing his name on her lower. back... Well it made sense to me at the time....!;)

Then try doing a "test run" with design... With something non permanent, like that "grease paint" used by football fans on their faces....?
I can't help on this.. I'm into the black & shade HR Giger "biomechanical" stuff...

I would never have associated that with Diabetes nor ever would have in a million years... Blue Circle's always been cement with me too - and I've never built anything that needed cementing in my (fairly long) life!

It's all very well people coming up with logos, but I do believe that to be any use whatsoever, they also have to be intuitively associated with whatever they're supposed to represent, if you see what I mean - otherwise they're quite useless.

Apart from the medical symbol already suggested, the only other thing I can think of (and it's not specifically diabetes related) is the red cross symbol - which should be universally recognised. [But please see Alex's post (#30) below regarding use of their logo!]

Have fun anyway choosing your tattoo!

Just a question Everyone talks about logo/ But
When a problem arises/ how does one inform the people concerned. If you were unable to explain. how would people know!!! your a diabetic.
I know you get bracelets but they are not really. not what I would want, and a tattoo well a bit squeamish. also I am on warfarin so that would be a problem.
Your comments would be appreciated. The only info on me is the tablets and do not carry them around with me.
The process is going to be something like this: You collapse, bystanders call an ambulance, and EMTs will find the bracelet when they check your wrist.
Any documents you carry on yourself (e.g. Insulin passport) are unlikely to be found unlike the bracelet specifically says to check the wallet for detailed medical information, and the same applies to tattoos not on the wrist barring exceptional circumstances (I have a large one on my shoulder because I go swimming three times a week but kept forgetting my waterproof bracelet)

the red cross symbol - which should be universally recognised.
Wow, I would be extremely careful here because the Red Cross symbol is one of the most protected symbols out there (e.g. Attacking any vehicle or person bearing the Red Cross is a violation of the laws of war, and thus wearing a Red Cross if you are not a Red Cross member is bad)

This is why you need to consult a tattooist with regards to design & how it would look in ink..
Are you planning on text too? If so. Have you thought about the legibility of the font..?

The whole point with this is your identified as a diabetic should an incident arise... :)

They have red moon in some non-christian countries ;)

Thanks :)
I wish they hadn't changed it though!

One must always be cautious of the significance of certain designs when traveling to foreign cultures..
I was once threatened with a 12 inch knife by a Greek Island shop keeper for inadvertently wearing a tee shirt with the word "satan" printed...
