The Diabetes epidemic

I really thought it was a disgrace , not really anything to educate with, only a few stereotype examples , no offence to anyone this is my opinion.
No new information mentioned, no evidence as to why the medical or health profession are failing to pick up this disease and are letting so many people down , I maybe talking from my own past experience here....but it still was not mentioned...
No treatment options mentioned that were of any value ....these are my views and I can be critical ....
Others may have other views ...
I should not of watched it , for me it just sent the wrong message out to the media.

You should not have watched it.

I watched it too! What a heap of crock! Made it out that all diabetics eat s*#t all day long, are morbidly obese and lazy b*#~{$*s!! They could have introduced the programme with a definition of T2 and how this differs from T1!! Absolute rubbish! Instead they measured people's waists and told them they were high risk of getting T2 diabetes! :banghead:

There is an element of truth in it
.

Yeah... lets do a load of paperwork and say "you are at this risk level" well that's ****.
Why not do a quick finger stick and go.. hmm.. yes that is a bit high, you should go see your Dr based on the fact this was high no instead of the **** of go and see your Dr because you are in the 1 in 33 chance risk factor.. grr... no... I turned it off for a reason. Sensationalist media ****! As usual

Yes but there was no mention at all of T1! It's not just all about T2! I think this gives individuals the wrong impression of ALL diabetics, which isn't the case! Yes, some Diabetics have poor diets, smoke and don't take any exercise, but we are not all in that same box!

Stormed off 3mins in when they said fat stops insulin getting to the cells reading the comments it went downhill from there.

I suppose we should have realised the slant they were going to take purely based on the title!

Forgot it was on, will try and watch it on catch-up over the weekend.

nobblehead, I suggest you treat it as an ironic comedy show. Maybe then you won't get quite as wound up.

Of course I suppose they are just trying to cater for sensation and lowest common denominator, not everyone can be as smart and informed as we are here :)

On the ITV website they promo the programme then have links to the NHS dietary advice. This programme will probably do more harm than good.

I missed this, and sounds like it's a good thing that I did ;)

From what you are all saying about the programme, what was the point of it ?
What message are they trying to get across ?

I remember the recent Daily Fail headliner that sounded like it was saying that it was us nasty diabetics costing way too much on the NHS and bed blocking:banghead:

Was this only the usual "Blame Game" ? If so just what is the solution they proposed ?

To be fair they did say it was about the type 2 epidemic at the start of the show.

Thanks Andy, I don't get wound-up easily and will judge the programme as I see it, the media do have a habit of sensationalising subjects for their own ends :)

Don't forget that diabetics are also to blame for the continued economic slump :p
