"A new you in 42"

:sorry: I am still not doing so well with the exercise. This morning I meant to go out for a walk and then went back to bed. I have lost Pedro again, I think he may have run away for good this time. My excuse is that hubby is still on holiday and my routine has been disrupted, but he did get me to help him lift heavy things to take to the tip, does that count for 5 minutes exercise? I will try to make the effort to do something/anything this evening, but am not too hopeful. So, it looks like you win again Pipp!

Not in this to compete. You would beat me everytime, and I am chicken! I see it more that we are travelling a similar path and are companions not competitors. I aint racing to be first to the finish. Any day now I will be knocked out, and in need of kindness and understanding. For now, I am enjoying the feeling of wellbeing from the exercise and from the encouragement from everyone here.
Please be as kind to yourself as you are to everyone else. You deserve that. Enjoy time off with hubby, and pick up the exercise when you are ready.

Absolutely that's 5 minutes!
I like the idea of marching on the spot when you make a cup of tea - or brush your teeth. Come to that you could do leg lifts every time you have to go to the loo; touch your toes every time you have to go to the front door; do a star jump every time you put your lippy on - there's no end of ways to add a bit of exercise to the day! Before you know it 30mins is done, and you'll be top of the class (just with lipstick smeared down your chin)!;)

This is good. Increasing movement in lots of small ways, when and where possible. I march on the spot every time I put the kettle on.

Yes every little helps as someone once said. And I found the safe place, sparing me from seeing whether I could in fact out run an angry Mr E.

Well,
I raised my heart rate a bit this morning - out on a run with the dogs, I got about a quarter of the way up a steep climb only to realise that a van was coming up behind me. A single track road with steep sided hedges - blast! Like a whippet I sped up to the top and pulled the dogs safely into a layby. I had to walk 100yds on wobbly legs before I could run again!
What's great is that not that long ago I would have face-planted a nettly hedge rather than run up a hill like that - so thanks Jamrox, and thanks guys! The hard work is paying off!

Oh, I see where I am going wrong now....I'm meant to be enjoying this week! Well I'll try for the rest of the day and tomorrow.....I'll start with practising my smile.....nope, maybe I'll just go out for a long walk after all.;)

Oh, I'm meant to wear lippy too? Do you reckon that would help me smile?:) This forum is a real eye opener to me. I don't think I even own any lippy anymore so I won't be doing the star jumps (yay!). Um, maybe I need to change my ways, OMG, I really don't think I can do this, you'll have me thinking about wearing skirts and dresses next! Nope... it ain't gonna happen. Perhaps it's easier if I just do the **** exercise and then just tell you all it's done. And it would get me out of the house. OK, one last look for Pedro

Haha, wetting myself now.
Just noticed, we are on page number 42 of thread. I do feel rather new too. Hurrah!

That sounds like a fartlek to me.

Forget the lippy. And punish Pedro for hiding by going without him.

Found Pedro, I've already been to Tesco's and the tip without him, he'd be really miserable if I went for a walk without him too. Can't stop thinking about dresses and shoes and lippy now......maybe it would be kinda nice......:)

Way to go, zand!

Wear whatever you like most, but try to wear a smile at least once a day.
You make me wear a smile.

I have a dress in the wardrobe that Mr E bought me when I was 19- I couldn't get into it then and it's hung in wardrobe ever since even though there have been times I'd have fitted into it easily- once I left uni, I stopped dressing so out there- but hell, if I ever shift this weight I'm wearing it, even if I look like mutton's granny dressed as lamb.

Maybe we should make it a condition that you can only exercise if you're wearing your lippy!
I've now got visions of Pipp powering up and down the fast lane in scarlet, and a red faced @Andy12345 running around his local park in fuschia!:joyful:

I just went to the loo tried a leg lift and almost put my knee out. Scrub that one.

I don't even know what colour would suit me anymore - I haven't worn any make up for about 16-18 years! Perhaps I should start experimenting. OK, enough, you have all made sure that I never ever have a lazy day again, you'll have me practising walking in heels again next.....ridiculous......

Once a day!!!!!! I thought once a week (at SW) was enough!

hmmmm so if you told me to do it, its not weird right? maybe even a diabetes treatment? and i could print out your post and show it to the policeman next time he tries to arrest me?

15 minutes YouTube Zumba at lunchtime and another 25 minutes after school. I'm out this evening so can't do my walk. It's quite vigorous exercise, this Zumba! Exercises my arms too but I didn't like it when my bingo wings boxed my ears!!

.....quite vigorous...? Its mindbogglingly vigorous, thats great going peacetrain....:) .....I feel a bit of a wimp now as I slope off to get my skipping rope... ..... not now in the hall as I threw it up with abandon this morning and had to fetch the stepladder to untangle it from round the lampshade as I couldn't unhook it...

....did 40 mins walk at lunchtime, I need a longer lunch hour, I'm starting to enjoy it, never thought I would! :p

Unfortunately patient experiences aren't measurable or quantifiable - any change to guidelines needs to be research based and therefore (frustratingly) patient opinions will not be taken into account.
Don't lose faith Jamrox, it will change for the better eventually, and in the meantime it's just a case of shouting it from the rooftops as much as we can.:playful:

Patient opinion was discussed at the conference and is slowly but surely being recognised
Time will tell.
