Hello i'm new!!!!!

Just to say hello. I was diagnosed in February 2008 and after spending 6 months on type 2 medication and becoming so ill I was eventually admitted to hospital to be told within 24 hours i was actually type 1. Much better these days and I am on a pump.

Please give me a little time to get used to this and fumble my way around the site to get used to it. I was going to put a picture up but don't know how to do it but i'll work it out

A big hello and welcome to the forum Ian, nice to meet you. If you need to ask anything, just go ahead, as someone will be along with some help and advice. There are quite a few type 1's on a pump here, and I'm so pleased to hear you are feeling so much better after your misdiagnosis.

You're a Judo player? I know it's quite a physical sport.. With best wishes

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome. I do Aikido and not judo but from the picture I can understand the confusion but it's still quite a physical sport

Ah yes I should of noticed, Judo is all white jacket and trousers, with a belt. Could you tell us a little more about Aikido. With best wishes.

WOW!! thanks to you all for the welcome. Aikido, well what can I say, I am far from the 'super hero' you suggest... lol. The most famous practitioner that you may know who does it is Steven Seagal but i'm not a great fan of his (personal opinion of course). I'll not go on any more as I can already hear the snoring as I type. If anyone is as boring as me and wants to know any more ask and i'll try to answer. Thanks again for all the welcomes from you all!!!

I've always been under the impression that aikido is a martial art that uses the attacker's own strength against them (which appeals to me). But I may be completely mistaken...?
 
Absolutely right Brunneria. It's mainly a case of blending, avoidance and using your opponents momentum against them. The thing is you can use it at so many different phases. The more they can't get to you the more they lose interest in coming at you..............sounds strange I know and when I first started doing it I thought 'what a load of old tosh, but i've actually come to understand and believe in it now.

I also believe that this can apply mentally as well as physically - if they can't get you provoked and riled up verbally they generally lose interest in trying.
