Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Ha ha ha!! I'm 6 too!!!

Mines slightly skewed from delayed testing as I had the rug rats to run around after and sort out kitchen after yesterday's baking so if imagine it would've been a bit less had I tested earlier. Also am thinking the professional sampling of my frosting may have influenced my reading too!

5.7 at 8am - the party and cake are back on! :)

Something seems to be settling down, my DP is not as great as it used to be. I know my bg will rise through the morning, but it is so much better than it was. I'm really pleased with myself this morning :) :)

6.6- knew it would be as I woke up at 6 and couldn't be bothered to sample then lay half asleep till after 9. I could feel my stomach rumbling let alone my liver getting agitated.

6.3 - I need to test when I wake up but it's too comfy to get up out of bed to wash hands.
I wonder about this. Does everyone get up to wash their hands before testing? Or just test in bed first thing?

I would have to go downstairs to wash my hands, then my bladder would wake up, then I would be mauled by hungry cats etc. Would the moment be gone? Tested this morning first thing without washing my hands. 5.4 which is an all time low for me.

I used to test in bed using hand gel to clean first but apparently that's bad

6.7 which is better than it has been, so I'm happy with that. :)

Hold the cake, mine was 6.9 at 7:04 am on rising. And rose some more!

oooops!

It's a cake free day for you then today! ;)

Well.....four and a half hours after my weetabix and my first ever 4.7!! =-O

Did you test at one hour and two hours after? I'd expect your BG to have reduced to 4.7 after four hours as the body's had plenty of time to deal with those carbs.

4.6 for me, so that's outside my normal range. Looking back through my records, I have only had two other 4.6s (and nothing higher) in the last 3 months, so it is unusual.

My OH has been suffering with a viral thing this last week, and feeling really quite unwell. I've had a bit of a flavour of it, lurking in life's subtext, and a headache today, so perhaps it's my turn to hit the Echinacea and drink even more fluids.

I'm not going to change anything, as nothing material has occurred. I'll monitor for a few days, and test my hypothesis.

Hey ho.

I was at work deb, 2 1/2 hrs after breakfast I was back to my wake up 6, 1 hour after a bit of lunch- prawns, cream cheese and cucumber I was 5.5???

You may be ok but I used to think muesli was ok as I was normal at two hours but I tested after one and was shocked at the rise so no longer have it. It was the same spike as a cupcake so I know what I'd rather choose for a spike like that!

Before I joined this forum it hadn't occurred to me to wash my hands before testing unless I'd been handling food....so I just tested twice, before and after hand washing.. 0.2 difference and because of a 10 - 15% variance in meter readings anyway, does it really matter...?

I take so much notice of the advice and tips in here but I don't think this one is necessary, well not for me, but will have a retry tomorrow..

I think it's really important to wash hands simply because something sugary on your finger will skew the results. I was once out and about and could not wash my hands and ended up with a massive random high reading - I must of touched something...

I tend to eat supper quite late and what I tend to think of as my morning "wakeup" level, generally taken about 6-7 hours later, is around 6.5. My last month's average is 6.4.

If I go longer I'll sometimes see a smallish liver dump. When I've done a proper 8-12 hour fasting test for the doc, I'll get a lot higher reading because I've been active. So, just out of idle interest: how long are we going since our evening meals/supper before doing our morning tests?

Robbity

Morning Robbity! On a work day I could eat my main meal as late as 7.30, yesterday I was on earlier finish and ate around 6.30, then had sugar free jelly and cream at 10pm- bit random there! Usually I would eat no later than 9pm though. As above woke up to 5.4 at 7.30 today.

5.6 happy with that.
