thirst and sugar cravings

johnd thank you so very much for the monitor,
how do i get in contact with you with my address?

scotty, i entered my details on the link and it said sorry, i can,t have a free meter as i,m not on insulin

jakthelad, i,ve tried boots, local chemist and 2 independant chemists and they don,t give away any free meters

Look up freecycle. It is nationwide, even worldwide. You can ask for things or give things away. All free. I have given lots of things in the past. I've received a video recorder, a reclining chair and a TV unit. You could register, it's free, then ask if anyone has a meter. You might get several then work out which you can get cheapest strips for.
You seem isolated from your family. Do you have to live so far away? Sorry to ask so many questions. How do you pay for your broadband? Bank account? If you don't want a debit or credit card you could get a visa electron card. It's like a debit card and you can use it to buy online. Or if you can give the cash to a friend they could buy for you online. Another possibility would be to give a friend the money, they could then buy you a gift voucher on amazon with which you could shop for an ds code free. You seem to have a lot of barriers in your way. First and foremost is get your food right. It can be done cheaply.

Ally,

@ally1 You will see an envelope at the top right hand side of the forum next to your name.

Click on the envelope and you will see that you can start a conversation with another forum member. John's forum name needs to be put in the space for a Participant, then give the conversation a title and then write what you need to.
Hope this helps.

That's fab, having a Meyer will help you loads. You have made a great start, I have cut out all or as much as possible of carbs.
I feel both physically and mentally better.

I have found that the traffic light system unreliable. My OH bought low sugar black pudding. They were small, my blood sugars went high, checked the ingrediants, which consisted of 71.1 trams of carbohydrates.
You will get there.

Ally, hopefully you can get a meter from John, if not, you obviously have internet access try hunting around for someone that sells meters and has their contact details listed. If you phone them you might find that they could take you Mum's card details over the phone if she is happy doing that or they might be willing for you to send a cheque out, if you haven't got a cheque book you bank can write one for you. It might also be a way of getting strips once you have a meter.

With any luck you will be like I am and having cut out all the chocolate, crisps, cakes etc from the shop I have notice the food bill drop a few pounds a week.
