6.6 this morning - it's hot and sticky and I woke up with a bit of back pain so laying off the exercise today.

4.9 this morning but I guess it is going to creep up as I am now on holiday. I normally cycle at least 10 miles a day, now I am lazing on Cornish beaches :headphone: Sadly I have to go for my HbA1c as soon as I get home in two weeks  I know it averages out three months but it does weigh towards the near history more than three months ago.

5.7 so about my recent averages........though went to bed 5.6!! Not in work till 2-8 today so Sat with coffee deciding what I fancy for breakfast, not much fussed at moment somehow!

Mine have been far higher than my normal range these last few days- this morning a whopping 7.6 ( or 6.5 on retest) and I've struggled to stay below7 post prandially. It is very humid here in Dorset and I think the lack of a decent night's sleep for three days, being stuck in car a lot and more irregular meal times have really mucked me up. Be glad to get back home and back to own routine, food and my exercise bike. Feel really bloated and sluggish so going to try and up fluids a bit. Have been guilty of not drinking enough in this heat.

I know I wasn't the only one last week to not get under 6's couple of days last week comfortably......seems heat and humidity doesn't help us??!! Still learning all the time......

7.5 today, which is fairly normal for me.

We are lucky, about 12 years ago we bought an air con unit for the bedroom, it gets used a few weeks each year but it is a god send for those few weeks, gets the bedroom from 27-28 degrees down to about 21-22 degrees in 3 hours. Turn it off when we go to bed and it will be the early hours of the morning before it starts to heat up again so we get a relatively good nights sleep. It is rather noisy now as it is getting old, but it still works.

My own house doesn't get that warm as it is a very old stone built house with flag floors- takes a good few weeks of scorching weather to warm it through so I'm hoping that it'll be cool enough to get an unbroken night' s kip tonight. It's amazing how 8 hrs flies by when you're asleep but lasts forever when you are lying awake.

The heat and humidity seems to be affecting most of us at the moment.

Something strange for me here ...

a whopping 6.3 on going to bed
a very nice 5.3 on getting up. This is average for me but as I went to bed high I was expecting to get up high.

3.7 for me this morning, so still in my personal range.

Yesterday's cricket saw a hat trick of defeats for the local team. It was lost by virtue of losing silly early wickets, by run-outs, which at this international level shouldn't be happening. But, hey, they're were great days out, if exhausting. These guys know how to party, in victory or defeat.

Yesterday's food featured my chicken from the BBQ, at the match. It really was delicious. OH's baby back ribs smothered in (apparently quite sweet) BBQ sauce looked delicious, but I didn't indulge myself. On settling home for the evening though, I was suddenly ravenous. OH wanted cheese and biscuits, and nearly fainted when he saw what I had laid on the table for us to nibble on. Yes, I was hungry, big styleeeeee, and dealt with it. I can no longer afford to ignore these feelings too often, as my weight is at the light end of where I need to be.

On an aside, my OH is certain they guy in the next seat to me is on UK TV. I didn't recognise him at all. The closest face I could get to was Nicky Campbell, but this guy had a very middle class, middle England accent, unlike Nicky's Scottish burr. Another mystery unresolved.

Anyway, the upshot is a nice low fasting level, which feeds my forming hypothesis about my overnight physiological processes. I'm sort of looking forward to trading a lump of cash for test strips in order to go into a phase of mega testing in order to firm up or throw out my theory.

Hey ho. It's another beautiful day in Paradise.

5.3 this morning! I have my first nurse appt at 8.30am so not eating till I'm back, this is my first check since diagnosed four and a half weeks ago........going well informed now though and with my levels to prove I'm on it !!

Well done Kim, I'm sure your appointment will go swimmingly.

6.0 this morning, OK given the weather. About to head off on a 4 hour drive to my 'office', won't do my back any good, where are those Ibuprofen?

7.2 this morning, 7.5 when I went to bed. 6s and 7s do seem to be my normal levels, a bit higher than I would like but from what I have read the SD Codefree does have a tendency to read a bit high so maybe that is part of it.

5.8 on going to bed
5.4 this morning.

Ruth, forgive me for asking, but are you losing weight? I found my average morning levels dropped quite a bit all of a sudden (almost over night in fact) when I lost 17% body weight. It seemed to be a magic figure as someone else reported the same. I've now lost 22% and have noticed my post meal results are getting better despite eating the same foods. I just assume my insulin resistance is improving due to weight loss.

4.2 for me this morning.

We went out to dinner last night, to celebrate a friend's birthday. She chose Greek, so Greek it was. Although I had a Greek salad for my main, when I logged my food in myfitnesspal (I still do it every day), it transpired to be a 72g carb dinner, and 120g for the whole day. The hummus and pitta bread were the major culprits in my view. Anyway, I was 3.9 pre dinner, and 4.6 two hours after. I'd also had red wine; probably half a bottle over the evening. I can be happy with that, I reckon.

Nice readings there, but it was a no carb meal! Did you do a test on arriving home before you ate? It was a good opportunity to see what your liver dump was.

I am losing weight steadily at the moment between 1-2lb a week which is a rate I am happy with rather than losing a lot in one go. From Christmas to the end of April when I saw the nurse I lost about 5lb, which was when things changed and I decide to try and do something, in the last 3 months I have lost just over a stone. Another couple of pounds and I will be at my lightest since I got married 14 years ago. I have a LOT of weight to lose and I have always found if I try and lose it quickly using specialist diets I don't have the will power to stick to it and I have to keep a certain amount of 'bad' food in as my husband likes his snacks.

I'm with you on that one, @Ruth B . I lost gradually, 1 or 2lbs a week. (3 stones lost and at goal weight) and I'm now maintaining. Just a bit concerned now I don't need to lose more weight that my BS will stop improving!
