Do I seek medical attention?

Anyway yesterday whilst out walking to tesco, I whacked my hand against a corner of a brick wall....not deliberately ha! but anyway I have a small cut but my hand hurts to grip things etc! Should I seek medical attention or am I overreacting? x

I may go to the walk in centre after work then! There is literally the tiniest cut but the rest is painful and hurts to pick things up etc! It seems to be the bone that connects to my index finger if that makes sense?
 
Hi sounds like you have a sprain/strain, you might need to rest your hand for awhile then put some ice on the area before you go to the center :) x

Okay then I will do thank you! I can't tell if it is numb or not...if that makes sense! It just feels weird!! x

Did you hurt your wrist or any tingling sensation nic? Is there a lot of swelling/ does the site feel warm? They'll probs do an X-ray to rule out then May/May not give you a splint :) for now just rest your hand for awhile and put ice til you go and see them xx

Well I hit the front of my hand and I guess kind of my wrist I can't remember properly....resting it is a bit impossible as have to use a computer at work! The joys lol! Will be going there tonight me thinks...the wrist/arm is kind of hurting now and my fingers are slightly cold too...but get that alot anyway but it isn't cold in the office and my other hand is okay :S xx

Okay!:) I've tried typing with one hand but takes ages lol :) when in doubt, best to have it seen...let us know how it goes! X hopefully nothing too serious, good luck! :)
 
Generally if a bone is broken or cracked you get an on-going pain or ache for at least a few days afterwards even without movement. A bruise etc is more likely to hurt when you move the affected part and fades after a day or so. I'm generalising but it may help a bit.
 
Try putting arnica cream on the bruises - not a substitute for medical attention but it may help reduce swelling.
 
If your fingers or under your finger nails turn blue'ish get to a&e straight away .. The wife broke her wrist .. Coped with the pain keeping it to her self .. But her fingers turned blue .. It was broken at the wrist .. So don't be brave .. Get it seen to by the works medic and then see what they advise ...
Edited .. Just seen you don't have a medic .. Go to your boss and tell him you may need medical attention ...

Pain is pretty much there all the time it's a dull ache when not moving it but obviously worse when I move it! x
 
If your struggling to grip things or move your fingers then you should have it examined Nicola.

Okay I will do! It doesn't seem too bad now...but think I will still get it checked.....literally am falling apart lol

If it's not too bad pain wise and all your sensations in the hand have returned then I wouldn't bother Nicola, see what the next day or two is like and then decide.

Well I can't really hold a pen and now I have burnt my thumb on opposite hand which looks like it's blistering :( not my bloody day!
