So after the shock of being diagnosed T2 on 14th July and not really taking it all in and being completely uneducated I had a meet with my GP today
When diagnosed I had two fasting tests. First one was 6.7 second was 5.9
Cholesterol at diagnosis was
HDL 1.4
LDL 3.6
Total 3.9
Triglycerides 1.1

Two hba1c tests one on 13 June and one 30 June both at 50

Since diagnosis I have been low carb dieting and exercising more. Gone from 16st 10 to 15st 3. Not drunk alcohol since diagnosis. Everyone of my own meter readings have been in the normal range. I have another hba1c end of aug and another end if sept. Told her I had also only taken the metformin for 8 days before deciding I will do it without meds and just diet and exercise. She was happy with this, my weight loss and own meter readings. I am itching to do the other hba1c tests now just to see if and how much I may have improved.

Well done! You have taken the first steps to a fitter, healthier lifestyle.

Well done Gaz, inspirational!

Hi - I am surprised your GP is offering you so many HbA1C tests. its usually only once every 3 months and then yearly once they have a baseline. did the GP explain why they are doing so many tests?
congrats on the weight loss that is really good.

Ok, just to clear this issue up. My GP told me to book in for a fasting test and hba1c 3 months after my first one which was 13th June. However, the appointments were either end of sept or end of aug. I booked the end of August at the time but when I saw my GP last Friday she said let's do one end of sept so I now have to appts. I figured I would rather be over tested so kept both slots. She said it would not do any harm. Also have my first DN appt on Friday!
