Yesterday morning, I found it very very difficult to wake up, which is very unlike me especially when I have to go to work, even my boyfriend found it hard to get me up, but then I woke up on the sofa in the front room. I was confused and disorientated. I didn't know what was happening, and why I wasn't at work. I looked at my phone, and it was apparent that my other half had phoned in sick for me. But I for the life of me cannot remember what had happened. The hour prior to that. I was so scared and confused I broke down into tears. When I phoned my boyfriend he explained that I was 'Monged out' however I don't drink or smoke, and my sugar levels were about 3.9 so they weren't stupidly low. I had a headache for the rest of the day.
I don't know whether it could be diabetes related or what it could be. It would be awesome if someone could explain to me, or if someone has an idea of what it could have been?

sounds perfectly acceptable that you were suffering from a hypo.......

its sound like it anyway..........would your boyfriend have treated your hypo...........?

all the symptoms are there and it sounded like a bad one in terms of your bodies response to it......may have been a rather quick drop in BG........

Yeah, he got me a bowl of cereal, but as I say my sugar levels weren't horrifically low. My boyfriends very clued up on diabetes, and always makes sure there's enough sugary stuff in our room and around the house incase of any hypos.

It sounds like a particularly bad hypo. Was your 3.9 reading after you'd already eaten cereal? It sounds like your blood sugar was quite a bit lower than 3.9.

Did you go hypo during your night's sleep? - sorry, I didn't quite understand the order of events - if you went hypo during your sleep, it's possible you missed your usual warning signs of palpitations and cold sweat.

If you have one of those unconscious hypos and fail to treat it, your body will eventually dump glucose from glycogen stores to raise you BGs up, so it sounds like you went very low and the headache is a symptom of glycogen release. This would also account for your (alleged) strange behaviour ;)

Oh that would explain a lot. I understand now! Thanks! :) Better keep a closer eye on my BG before I go to sleep. Thanks! :)

So would that explain the confusion and extreme memory loss? Gee, it actually felt like I had some sort of amnesia or something.

I have only had this once in my diabetic career, when first diagnosed in 1972. I was out walking for the afternoon with a friend and I remember 'coming to' when we were back home eating some cake (I must have a good autopilot ;) ) but I couldn't remember anything about the afternoon - complete amnesia. My friend said I had been very quiet and unresponsive.

Oh right, sounds very like my morning yesterday, my boyfriend said I was really unresponsive. Pretty scary. Hopefully that cake helped you out :P

Probably had hamster-cheeks full of cake :hungry:

I knew I was hypo but it was like being asleep/in a dream because i was gaining consciousness but couldn't see.
