Well....seeing as I left my meter at work last night I couldn't test on waking, at 9.30am after being up 3 hours, breakfast and getting to work I was 6.2 so guess waking would have been my usual of late mid 5's, by 11am I was back to 5.6.......THEN at midday came a challenge- my daughter came in with her homemade lemon cupcakes to celebrate her fab A-level results......my colleagues had one and I said no, daughter really wanted me to try a "taste" as a treat- I debated for ages, felt quiete worried about blowing 8 weeks of my regime (even the recent wedding didn't blow it!) I had 3/4's of it, more than enough and waited to test - missed 1hrs as I was in-undated with phone calls and arrivals, at 1 /12 hours I was 8.6!! Hated seeing that, not had an 8 since my first few days of lchf began 8 weeks ago!! Thankfully a busy afternoon at the office stopped me dwelling on it and now I'm home and just tested 5.9 ; )

Yep, I hate seeing 8's - doesn't happen often but it's really disheartening since I'm "only" pre-diabetic. Congrats to your daughter, how fabulous. I still feel the shame over my A-level results LOL...still, an A-level in art comes in sooooo handy ;)

Well done to your daughter.

5.7 this morning after a very very long lie in. In my defence our neighbours are silaging so tractors were going through our yard ( they rent our farm) till 1.30. Good job I was already awake with night terrors then ;-)

@Kimbo well done to your daughter, you will be very proud of her. My granddaughter's GCSE results next week.

I am getting worried about my bedtime and fasting levels. (and consequently my pre-lunch levels) because since mid July they are trending upwards slowly but surely, whilst meal spikes and pre-evening meals are continuing to trend downwards.

6.3 at bedtime last night (after a salmon salad with cheese and 6 cherry toms over 4 hours earlier)
6.0 this morning
:banghead:

This is my first post on any forum whatsoever !
I have had type 2 for about 3 years ....been on metformin 2x twice a day .
Only just really started checking glucose levels ...am shocked to see how low every-one else is ...I am averaging about. 11 at each reading .
I usually take the medication after lunch & immediately after dinner .
Before bed last night was 12.1 this morning after about 7 hours fasting it had reduced to 11.3 ..advice anyone please about how to reduce ?
Thank you

Good morning @Bella08 and welcome to the madhouse,

Well done for finding this forum and for posting. Don't panic about all the low results you see. You can get yours down with maybe a change of diet. I suggest you start a new thread here http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/greetings-and-introductions.20/ along the same lines as the post you have just made. More people will see it there, and you will get some advice and support. If you need some help starting a thread, just shout and we'll show you how. (green button top right of that page)

Hi Bella!! Best think I ever did joining the lovely folk on here - only 8 weeks diagnosed but have learnt so much simply from being here!!

Well done again to your daughter!

I wonder if it's the cheese? I have only just started adding it in order to bump my calories up.

I hadn't noticed it with cheese before bluetit - I often have it for the fat content as obviously it is almost carb free?? I only have an occasional Apple now but have cheese with it to lessen the impact!

7.6 *sigh*

Was hoping for a better fasting result by now

4.6 for me this morning. It's higher than I'd like, but I'm on "that" batch of strips, and I had a lie in today. Excuses, excuses!!!

Anyway, it's the weekend again.

I'm going to do some cooking and freezing this weekend, but I'll have to be careful that I don't cook too much and can't fit it in the freezer! It's a fine line when cooking for one. I like a real variety of food available to me, but being on my own at the moment (Boooo, hiisssss), I don't get through it quickly enough! Never mind. I'll manage somehow. I also have some rhubarb to stew and freeze. Having found it, I'm not giving it up too quickly.

Yesterday i did a bit of googling for someone and found some fun recipes on VideoJug, including baby back ribs, done in the slow cooker. I'll have to go buy the ribs, but I'm going to do those this weekend, but they'll never reach the freezer. Trust me on that one!

I have also had to order myself a new meter. My Codefree keeps switching itself off, when I use the button to toggle for pre/post prandial readings. I replaced the battery a few weeks ago, concluding it was running down, but this is different. It won't do any harm to have a spare anywya, and I know when my original (not the SD Codefree) went wrong I was very grumpy. That was compounded by being overseas, and not able to replace it for a few weeks. At the time I looked, I couldn't find both a meter and it's compatible strips at any of the pharmacies I tried. The joys of living in Paradise, eh?

Oh well. Time to get on. Have a great day everyone.

When I was starting on this journey Loobles, my fasting was the last reading to come into place. Be patient.
Ah ok, so I'm expecting too much too soon. I get it LOL
Never was known for my patience x

Help!! Just started testing my blood again (stopped because nurse told me as Type 2 i shouldn't be testing) Anyway....felt i was going a little off the rails so started again. Yesterday mornings fasting reading 10.1 today's 12.4 Both reading after around 12 hrs of eating. Also the lowest 2hrs after eating reading i've had is 9.7............ should i speak to my doctor or wait and see if it passes??

To be honest, if you feel you've been going off the rails, you know the answer is to get back onto the rails. I know that probably sounds harsh, but it's probably the answer.

Has your diet gone a bit awol, or something else?

Hello Kaycam,

I'm afraid it won't go away without some help from you! It sounds like you might need some help with your diet. Once you get that right you should see some improvements.
