Room 101 (like the TV prog)

Could she cope with being a holding area monitor? Just to wind up the queue in the waiting room?

Sounds perfect - she is obviously needing a purpose, to keep her busy and entertained.

We could give her tea and coffee making facilities, and a clip board.

She could have a lovely chat with those entering; just to check their well-being and ensure they'll be safe whilst incarcerated.

Sorted.

Planning Inspectors and developers. Throw the lot in.

Our small rural market town is doubling in size with no extra facilities such as schools, doctors and so on. Our roads and bridges were built in the days of cart horses and were never meant for cars, let alone the numbers currently using them. Our local planning officers used to listen to the people and turned down the ridiculous large development applications, but these go to appeal and the Inspectors overturn the decisions. This had led to the local planners now allowing the developments because they can no longer afford to go to the inevitable appeals.

Oh yes!! I would even add a torture area for them. Especially the ones that approved a large extension to the semi joined to ours that doubled the size of the house and blocks the daylight to my lounge with the ugly high brick wall at right angle to the window less than a foot away. The planners had assured me that it would not be approved too. So i would want a particularly nasty area for these lying toerags!

I would also chuck in the developers building 'luxury detached homes' on my old school sport field. Ok so I hated having to play hockey in my knickers in the winter when the ground was frozen, but in the summer that field was great for sunbathing and skipping lessons.

Am liking this idea. She is lovely really just in small doses. Too much sympathy and fawning makes me feel claustrophobic especially if I'm not 100%. When I'm ill I just want to be left alone until I'm better. If I need something I'll shout :)

She could probably talk them into room101. No pushing would then be required. The perfect holding room monitor, you are all correct

Oh, and the mayor, who could do with some exercise who is pushing through the development of 'brownfield' sites by scrapping schools and building on the grounds. Mr Mayor, the playing field was not brown it was green! And where are all of the children now in the overcrowded primary schools going to get their secondary education? In an out of town warehouse?

But we have to house all those teenage mums somewhere. They feel at home next to their old school

Oops, maybe that was a little judgemental and generalised :(

I have one of these MILs too. Sadly she now has dementia. Not so bad that she would not do a good job at making people take the leap in from holding area though. They could be a good double act,

Heehee. Well they won't be getting these houses. They cost upwards of £400k each. I would have been happier if it had been social housing.

Did I just detect an unnecessary 'sorry' lurking there? That is the sort of thing that sends you in, remember.

It's the last bit that gets me. My son has 30 in his class already. A couple have behavioural problems so need extra time, a couple of them speak English as a second language so need extra help. Not enough staff time left over to give the rest enough attention. Definitely don't need to squash in more kids!

So, education planners going in too?

Thought I'd better edit the comment as someone may take offense. Meant in jest as a reflection on our ever growing benefits culture as opposed to my actual opinion on the matter ;)

Yep.

The actual school seem to be doing brilliantly considering the problems they have to contend with. My lovely boy did his SATs in May and got above average in all. Very proud mummy! :) :) :)

Wobbling cafe tables.

All over the world. Every day, millions upon zillions of people are inconvenienced, coffees spilled, teacups rattled, and scratty paper napkins wedged.

Why, O why, do table manufacturers not make tables with 4 legs the same length?
And floor installers not install level floors?
And cafe owners not put diddly little blocks under one table leg?
Or tighten the screws?
Or buy a new bl**dy table?

Why???

*Crazed hair clutching and wild eyed eyebrow waggling *

I'm suspecting there may be a story behind this........

Yes. I would add those silly perching stools that you need a step ladder to get onto. Then you have to sit there with legs swinging and spilling your drink. Don't know which is most annoying, the ones in cafes or the ones in bars. Hot coffee is painful spilled down front, but I cry more if I spill my beer.

@MrsB Ya think?

Clean clothes.
Favourite outfit.
Plans to look this awesomely well turned out all day.
Costa coffee.
Wobbly table.

Return home.
Change clothes.

I'm all for the mother-in-laws going in ... wondering if there'd be a special section available for ex-wives at all? Especially ones who expect their ex husbands to continue paying child support after said older child has turned 18 and left school.... you wish!

Oh no! I am a MIL, too.

Of course, I never, ever, interfere, or give an opinion, or tutt loudly, or call round unexpectedly, or gatecrash social occasions, or ever, ever, think my DIL is not the very best woman in the world for my wonderfully, brilliant, talented, sweet natured, perfect son.

Clearly an example to us all!
