Type 2 diabetes mellitus increases atherothrombotic risk. Platelets in individuals with diabetes show increased activity at baseline and in response to agonists, ultimately leading to increased aggregation. Increased expression of platelet surface adhesion molecules and receptors, enhanced production of thromboxane and thrombin and disturbances in platelet calcium homeostasis are well documented. As intra-arterial thrombi are initiated by platelets, strategies to limit acute thrombotic events have largely focused on antiplatelet agents. Aspirin remains the cornerstone of antiplatelet therapy but appears to have limited benefit in diabetes. Use of thienopyridines and platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitors has been shown to benefit high-risk patient populations. This review summarises the different platelet abnormalities characterised in diabetes and the role of currently used antiplatelet agentshttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/18537103/

can this problem occur before blood sugar problem? Does diabetes refer to an inability just as it does disability of the pancreas. E.g. if someone is over weight and their intestine is streched out of shape like a hanging belly can this cause a inability of the pancreas because the task is too much?

Also, the body of your [original unedited] post does not refer to the question that you state in the subject of your post.

As this is speculation, rather than genuine questions that other forum members could answer, maybe consider posting in Research?

Certainly an interesting hypothesis... However it's a point to remember, there are a lot of type 2's that are not or have ever been overweight..
It certainly true that former Soviet gymnast Olga Korbut made a carreer out of bending her torso out of shape & at the current age of 59 has not developed diabetes.....

a A person who is older or decrepit and or suffered an injury would have developed type 2 diabetes . I Think because there is more people who are clinically obease then there are people starving, shows that obease people have got too much attention and professional opinion is favouring obease people, and the terminology and treatment has changed to suit a different condition rather than what diabetes was first explained to be

How would you explain the case of Travis Walton. A logger that disappeared in November 1975, then reappeard 5 days later.after an alleged alien abduction..
Severe trauma to the intestine caused by his "captors". But no diabetes...

Jaylee you make an excellent point, and also seem to have zeroed in on the OP's wavelength... ^_^

Dunno to OP as stated you got 2 questions/comments about as different as a chunk of stone and a piece of cheese there but cats with heart problems NOT diabetes are the ones that throw a clot and very rarely dogs throw clots (again NOT those with diabetes) sadly mine was a rare one who threw a clot, she survived about 9 mths before a new one and at that point due to her circumstances l felt PTS was kinder. :(

I feel that if you have about 7 meters of intestine to get through in this discussion. You need to start from the bottom up..!
