Having been diabetic for years I feel really guilty that my control slips so often and just recently have had bgs in the teens and then gone on to eat biscuits ,mad or what.
Basal insulin is a problem for me as recent heart surgery has left me with palpitations after basal jabs ,docs have tried a few but not good however today am starting again and have injected Lantus which gives me stomach pains and weight gain also. Tresiba is not gven in Goucestershire where i live so considering asking if i can pay for it myself
Wish me luck folks i really must get to grips with it

if your/a Dr says Tresiba, it's Tresiba, drug approval is national, isn't it?
they locally may want to save on cost because it's dearer, but we all have a cross to carry.

A shame about the Tresiba as it would have been worth a try, I believe this insulin is rather expensive and this may be the reason why your PCT is reluctant to prescribe it.

Sorry if I've asked this before but have you tried Bovine & Porcine insulins, some people have changed back to using animal insulin after experiencing problems with Human & Analogue insulins, it might be worth mentioning to your gp or consultant.

Wouldnt know which were Bovine etc but have tried Levemir novo mix 50/50 ,insulatard and Lantus. Dont have a prob with novorapid so guess its to do with the chemical to make it release slowly
