insulin?

My blood sugars are averaging between 5.6 to 8.0. At what point would I be put on insulin medication. My nurse says it is imminent, I thought that my readings were still low enough to carry on with metformin (4×500).
 
It's imminent if you carry on. Have you tried a low carb diet or other lifestyle change. You can prevent the need to go in insulin by making serious changes.

Hi. If those are typical readings 2 hours after a meal then they are really good and you need no further medication. Reduced carbs always helps but you appear to be a very long way away from insulin. You need to go thru the Gliclazide & Gliptin route first!

Thank you. All advice is very welcome to help me in my aim..i will heed the advice received and am starting the low carb diet as from now. I have binned all the bad stuff and will be stocking up on the new food from tomorrow.
 
Yeah it kind of depends if those are pre-meal readings or post meal readings...
