Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

3.8 for me this morning. I seem to be on a roll of lower ones.

Yesterday was an odd day and I didn't feel to be on top form. I felt very low just before lunch, but tested and was 4.9, so my liver was really getting into the action I think. Between that, a headache, runny nose and a couple of almost giddy periods, I think I've been off-colour. But, I generally have a great immune system, so, "Come on old girl,................ Sort it!!"

I'm absolutely fine this morning, so let's hope the inner bo*&$%£ing worked!!

This morning I already have some chicken marinating. It's one of my fairly newly found favourites: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/spicy_chicken_thighs_43925 , so already looking forward to dinner. When I do this, I don't fry the chicken. I'm absolutely no fan of working with hot oil in any quantity, so I just roast the chunky thighs, and it works really well.

Other than that, I need to do a couple of hours in our workshop today, finishing a fun little project that needs to head towards my OH tomorrow. Not that I find deadlines motivational at all. Ahem. I could also do with a decent tidy up in there too, because whilst I'm a clean (and a little bit neat) freak, my OH is the neat freak extraordinaire. He can't stand disorder, in a workspace, and I have achieved great things in the disorder category, in there, since I got back. I have a few jobs afoot shortly after he gets back, so it is in my own interest to make the workshop a haven of industry.....................

Selfish? Moi?

Play nicely boys and girls. It's almost the weekend again.:)

Ps a mug of tea with splash of semi skimmed milk shows up as zero carbs in mfp?? I always thought it was approx 2 carbs? I know its not much to count but when you are lchf it can add up. Id prefer to use the extra carbs for extra veggies. Anyone know if its zero or not?

Saw doctor today for my 3rd week checkup. She was happy with how I am progressing, even though I think my fasting levels are too high 7.4 on average. She said for 3 weeks of meds that it was ok and because I am large she was not worried,,particularly since I go into the 5s pretty quickly during the day. She has changed me to slow release diabex, just two at night and we will check in 2 weeks. I am lchf dieting, see the dietician next week and am sure she will want to do the balanced diet thing rather than lchf.....I am not cheating!

I must admit I don't add tea or coffees to mfp, but I'm not, or ever have been, working to a tight target.

Tea with milk won't be zero carb. Mfp is imperfect in that it allows users to add foods to the database, and sometimes they're plain old incorrect. So, it's best to sense check a bit, and for supermarket sort of stuff, I check the entry matches any packaging details, or on the supermarkets' websites. They're generally a great source of info.. When selecting a food from the database, I also look for a number of confirmations of the nutritional content.

I love mfp, but it's not a system to use in your sleep, until you have a good core of your foods and drinks in, and can mainly go from your own historic selections.

(If you know how much milk you get through a day, would it be sensible to add that almost as a core item every day, to cut down the clicks? Of course, you may have few enough to make it irrelevant, but your original query perhaps suggests that's not palatable.)

2 carbs for a normal amount in tea. It's what I use, and that is worked out from what it says on the carton. My OCD made me measure it all so I know what I have, and it's 2 carbs. MFP is wrong more than it is right. All entries need checking.

I enter the daily total of my milk in tea as one snack on MFP.

Notice your morning fasting BS is excellent. Mine varies between 6.2 to 7.8 despite having good readings during the day. I don't seems to be able to bring it down. Please help.

Don't panic. Our fasting readings are often the last to come down. It will happen if you keep your daily levels under control. Do you test before you go to bed? That is a good thing to do initially, to see just what sort of rise you are getting over night.

5.3 going to bed
Two bathroom visits during the night, both 5.5
Getting up 5.2
:)

We are going on another holiday tomorrow for a week, to a rented cottage in North West Wales. Weather forecast is abominable, wind and heavy rain, which will put paid to our usual long walks (well .... long for me!). I don't test as much on holiday as we are out all day, and I don't eat any differently. It will give my fingers a rest. Be good everyone, and see you all in a week.

Have a good week away Bluetit- maybe the forecast is wrong!

5.5 this morning after dinner on the train last night (always a great pleasure) where my pre-dinner and +2 were both 5.6.

Have a great week Bluetit, whereabouts in NW Wales are you going? We try and get there at least every other year since Mrs Sanguine's family once had a static caravan outside Criccieth, although these days we go for a bit more luxury! The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways out of Portmadoc are always worth a go even if the weather isn't great, ditto the walks from Beddgelert.

Thanks Rod. We stayed near Criccieth last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time we are a bit further north. Our cottage is fairly isolated on the very tip of the Lynn Peninsular, stuck right out in the Irish Sea. Goodness knows why we chose this spot in October! It isn't far from Abersoch, which we like out of season. Waterproofs and windcheaters will be the order of the day methinks!

6.4 7.2 and i am happy but doc would like it lower, but it is not for me as i feel awful come 11.30 then i need something to eat, i don't think there is a line everyone is different

5.8 for me despite my cold and being up lots in the night....
