6.4 7.2 and i am happy but doc would like it lower, but it is not for me as i feel awful come 11.30 then i need something to eat, i don't think there is a line everyone is different

Do you test when you feel awful? Are you very low or high? Do you have a suitable breakfast fairly soon after getting up? What are your usual levels during the day?

22.4 This morning, to be honest I was drinking last night, at a family birthday, and normally drinking makes my readings lower (wine) but I woke up and again couldn't see properly and took my readings and got 22.4

Well, my appointment with the GP is only a few hours away so hopefully more answers. And hopefully I can stop taking the Gliclazide as it obviously isn't working and I have pain now in the liver and pancreas areas so I just need my body to have a rest from trying to produce insulin on it's own.

Maybe this is just carb and sugar cravings because of your diet and a sudden loss of sugary foods. Others on here can help better than I can as I've never experienced it. However, 5 isn't low. It is normal. There has to be a better answer than reducing your meds to keep your levels higher, which will not do you any good in the long term. I hope one of the others can help.

Thanks for the support everyone, very kind of you.

My GP was quite annoyed that when I reported my high readings to the DN at the hospital, she said we would just review it at my next clinic appointment which is in December.

He has referred me back to the consultant as an urgent case and has recommended I am moved to insulin therapy to resolve the current crisis.

On a positive note, looking at the log on my meter, my sugars have come down ever so slightly over the week on Gliclazide, still only down from high teens/twenties to low teens sometimes, but still an improvement so he said there are still some active Beta Cells working away, so he has doubled the dose, I now take 2 x 80mg in the morning and again in the evening. I took 2 when I got in, and my sugars have come down into the 9's.

Such a relief I can actually see clearly and my headache of 3 weeks has lifted. I don't get any nasty side effects from Glic so I can put up with this until I get the insulin.

And I am still losing tons of weight, so they are keeping me on the Bydureon for now also. Although I believe it isn't licensed to be used alongside Insulin so I will have to stop it once I start the new regieme.

Right onwards and upwards, got another mammoth walk planned this weekend, looking forward to it. Will keep a spare something sweet in my bag incase the Glic really does do the trick but I have a feeling I have a way to go before I get that low again.

Good that there seems to be some progress there Sallybear.

well going to try cutting protein portions at dinner and see if that lowers bs in am starting tomorrow

wow wish i had I had nothing for supper again sighs...8.2 again this morning

Getting up 5.2
:)

We are going on another holiday tomorrow for a week, to a rented cottage in North West Wales. Weather forecast is abominable, wind and heavy rain, which will put paid to our usual long walks (well .... long for me!). I don't test as much on holiday as we are out all day, and I don't eat any differently. It will give my fingers a rest. Be good everyone, and see you all in a week.

Have a super holiday, North Wales is a beautiful area.
